HENRET doesn't waste a moment when starting their first song "Bury Me" in trying to blow you off your socks or out of your chair. The amount of noise, the level of intensity and the amount of anger and mountain of frustration that is being vomited over you by means of your speakers is undoubtedly of the highest level that I ever have experienced. The combination of Hardcore, Metalcore and Deathcore is explosive at least, and lethal at it's heaviest. It results in a listening session that has me asking for a straightjacket, because I fear that if I am let loose while exposing myself to the music, I could feel the urge to start smashing things and/or people, and I'm not willing to take that risk.

To find out who HENRET consists of was quite a task. I eventually found out who the composers were for one of their recent songs through Apple Music, which gave me the names I needed. I then stumbled on a site for a Danish festival that HENRET played at in 2020. That made it possible for me to link the names to the right instruments. The only thing that was different was the name of the bass player, so I hope I have mentioned the right one here. Furthermore, I can tell you that "Depths Below" isn't the band's first try at making the audience keel over with their music.  in 2023 they released the EP "Abandon Hope". Before that I can only find loose songs on their Bandcamp page.

I read that the band has KUBLAI KHAN TX as one of their influences. Well, I can put your mind at ease, HENRET are not only better as musician, they are also in a higher league when it comes to writing lyrics and composing songs. But then again, I don't find that too difficult a feat. No, HENRET proves on "Depths Below" that they have eluded being angry and limited at the same time. As loud and obnoxious they may sound at times, they also have a knack for making it come out of your speakers in such a way that you will take notice, you just have to listen, whether you like it or not. Same goes for the music. it might not be to your taste, but once you have undergone "Depths Below" you will know where you stand. My conclusion is that even though this isn't my favourite kind of music, HENRET have given me another reason why I like discovering new bands and review new albums.
