Heathens Eye is a new Swedish Melodic Metal band which draws many different influences from AOR,Melodic Rock and Progressive to give the band it's sound. The band features five experienced musicians with a background in several genres. It consists of Göran Hamrin (Song Writer and Guitar), Jonas Jönsson (Drums), Mikael Andersson (Keys), Ola Hellström (Bass) and Robb Lindh (Vocals). In Heathens Eye their wide experience is fused together into a unique sound that expands the borders of Hard Rock. The name of the album,”Port Inspiro”, “Inspired by the past” in Esperanto, is a tribute to the bands such as Queensryche,Lynch Mob and Accept that led Heathens Eye onto the path they are on today.

One Black Lie” the opener has some great guitar riffs, melodic traits with powerful vocals in parts but for me its missing that spark, energy and power a bit of a tame opener.”Mirrorman” is a much better track some nice melodic key touches, galloping riffs with more energy with a great vocal & guitar solo.”Ghosts Of Yesterday” has an eerie keys intro & in latter parts of the track which leads into a Queensryche influenced track ,some great guitars from Goran Hamrin.”Fire Priest” acoustic intro is followed by a deep bass before launching into a faster paced track with a powerful chorus & a more edgier melody.”It's Over Now” is a more ballad style track with some great vocals from Rob Lindh powerful delivered with conviction a definite album highlight.”Endless Lies” is another melodic led track with some lush keys from Mikael Andersson with a great chorus and immaculate guitar solo.”Lost In The Wind” is an acoustic guitar led powerful track vocally &lyrically.”Blind” with pounding drums from Jonas Jonsson leads the charge into another melodic/aor style track with prog touches. The album comes to a conclusion with “Time To Deliver” another prog style track with edgier guitar riffs and heavier melody which again has the previously mentioned influences.

Port Inspiro” I had to play several times for it to grow on me,It didn't grab my attention straight away, the opening track was a bit dull for me. There are some good tracks on this album but there's just something missing to ignite that spark to make the album more memorable. There is however some great vocals & musicianship on this album, the foundations are there and hopefully they will be shaken on any future albums.
