Abgnose
Hasard

From Bandcamp, "Abgnose” is a testament to the greater force that governs our lives, neither a god or a devil, but only pure chance. There is no greater entity sitting in the sky or below the earth, who watches with interest our petty lives. Only pure chance and random events. We spend a short amount of time as a small point on an equally small planet lost somewhere in the universe and we die, only for our futile achievements to be forgotten as fast as we’re replaced. Just count the here and now, as there’s no afterlife. Abgnose stands for removing the idea of the divine, thus leaving only the despair of having to live and not be rewarded for our actions in this world." Always deeper into nightmares, always further into despair… To what end? That’s a question HASARD keep asking at every note.”
The album has five songs, and “Oniritisme” is first. The opening tones sound like something out of a horror movie…either that or a torture dungeon. The music is deep, dark, thick, and dissonant, and the vocals are harrowing. There is a ritual effect on the music also, and it grows as the song continues. “Senestral” begins with a good deal of chaos, such that there isn’t much of a discernable landscape. But it settles eventually. The backing keyboards, heavy drum thuds, and orchestral elements keep the sound very creepy. There is also a deep layering of the sound, resulting in more dark feelings than you can count.
“Negascedance” comes out of the gate with a tortured sound, like an innocent soul that was twisted into something so dark and nefarious, you don’t even dare to gaze at it. Deep orchestral elements occupy the middle, and it feels like a prelude to war. “Antienne Estrale” begins with a slow, creepy build that comes to life with cavernous drum strikes, and enough bottom end power to keep the world’s lights on. But is uses its power to do the opposite…to blot out any and all lights across the globe and cast the world into darkness. “Abgnose” is the final song, and it packs in even more frightening elements, until they overflow like a thick, black disease covering everything in its path. The vocals are a pure torture ritual, and the song morphs from music into terror personified.
If this isn’t one of the most terrifying albums you have ever heard, you may want to pay another visit to the cemetery at night for comparison. All of the ghost, specters, and things that go bump in the night are nothing compared to the visual that this album creates…you may never sleep again.
