For The Souls We Have Lost

Harvest

Overall, this was a solid album to listen to, and the vocalist was the perfect choice, because his bass voice carries much of the sound. It alternates between a crippling depression, and moments of rage, and the melancholy tones are deliciously smoky.

"For the souls we have lost" is our first album. Abandonment and solitude are the main themes, these human conditions are seen from the perspective of a man who runs away from society but also through an observation of pain and loss. Have a listen to this elegant and majestic Death Doom Metal work with strong Gothic influences." The album has seven songs, and "Born Alone" is first. Solemn clean guitars lead off the song, followed by thicker guitars, and meaty bass notes. In true Gothic Metal form, the vocals are clean, and sung by a baritone/bass male voice. The harsh vocals however are utterly depressing, in every sense of that word.

"Floating Leaves" is another song that pushes feelings of loss and pain, this time with some violin notes, and it's a perfect pairing with the despondent music. The harsh vocals bring torture with them, as if there weren't enough pain from the cleans. "In Shape of Beast" has a bit more energy, fueled by a sturdy riff and hasty vocals. It's also a catchy song, although still very melancholy. "Remembrance" is a short instrumental segue to the final three songs, and it's mostly about building a tense atmosphere. "Hunter of Souls" has a dark edge to it, and the title suggests. The depression is dialed back a bit, and anger takes over. The quieter mid-section passes by gently, but there is still a good deal of tension in the air.

"Shining Moon" is another dark slab of despair and aggression, mixing together as if whipping up a recipe. Much of the sound drop after the first verse…and it's a curious event. It returns with a bit of orchestration. "The Path of Life" is the final offering, and in true Gothic form, it's a clean guitar led song with plenty of time for you to consider the path you have chosen in life. Approaching the halfway mark, anger rears its head once more, and then the two walk hand in hand into the setting sun. Overall, this was a solid album to listen to, and the vocalist was the perfect choice, because his bass voice carries much of the sound. It alternates between a crippling depression, and moments of rage, and the melancholy tones are deliciously smoky.
