Oliver Hartmann is well known internationally as a respected guitarist and singer.Since the debut album “Out In The Cold” released in 2005 Hartmann have established themselves as one of Germany's Hard Rock acts.Having released nine albums and sharing a stages with the likes of House Of Lords,Uriah Heap.Toto & Y&T.In 2018 Oliver sung a duet with Eric Martin of legendary band Mr.Big entitled “Simple Man” which has gone on to have over a million streams.Hartmann's last album “Get Over It” released in 2022 was enthusiastically received by fans worldwide. Now with the new album “Twenty Times Colder” in 2025 the band celebrate their 20th anniversary.
So twenty years have past since Hartmann graced us with their debut album “Out In The Cold” and they are back for their 20th anniversary with their 9th studio album with an album appropriately titled “Twenty Times Colder”.The title track which starts the album off in fine style a modern strong hard rock track with strong vocals, strong melodies & an ear worm chorus. There is lots of different styles on this album “No One Like You” is a nod towards the classic bluesy seventies rock with a catchy deep bass with organ style touches before the slick guitar riffs and the strong drum pattern kick in.Then we have the melodic/AOR element in the track “This Heart” with a big anthemic chorus chorus.smooth guitar sol and that distinctive powerful vocals.”Alone” steps into the blue territory with a slow paced melody with some exquisite blues guitar riffs & solo, with a slick melody with another great vocal.”Just Fly” is a modern hard rock number which flows with “Don’t Cry” another nostalgic trip with a powerful emotional vocal charge with some slick melody tones and again guitars which gives me Whitesnake memories.
The soulful “The Time Of Your Life” is an initial acoustic led guitar track before the rest of the band join in with rhythmic tones backed by some chugging guitar riffs.”Valentines Day” is a surprise I was expecting a ballad but instead I was listening to a faster upbeat rock number with the drums & bass high up in the mix leading the way.I did get a ballad with the last track on the album “Remember Me” which again starts acoustic guitar led which with the strong clear vocals with some subtle woodwind instrument touches which make the track sound glorious before the guitar break makes the track even though more powerful and dramatic before the mellow synths close the track in a superb fashion. “Twenty Times Colder” is a great album from an experienced band, and it is a great way to celebrate 20 years as a band.Eleven solid tracks of variety delivered by Dan Hartmann who fronts an experienced band of musicians who lead the way in not just the German rock scene but worldwide.A solid highly recommended album, and here's to another 20 years of great music from a great band.Released via Pride & Joy Music on September 19th.
