Euarthropodia
Grey Czar

Hailing from Salzburg, Austria, a four-piece heavy rock outfit featuring two guitars, keys, bass, drums and up to three vocals. Their music is melodic and riff-driven, oscillating between heavier and mellow sounds, while having a flair for progressive elements. The band was founded in 2010 when its four members came together to share their mutual passion for music. Taken by the idea to play stoner rock the band quickly discovered new grounds and as the group’s personalities evolved so did the music, which continues its natural development. Since their self-titled debut LP in 2012, Grey Czar has released an EP “The Men Who Harvest the Sea” in 2014, and their session-recorded sophomore long player “Boondoggle” in 2018, which was well received in the scene.
“Euarthropodia” is nine tracks in length but has the feeling that its is one big track which is split into nine chapters which has a concept & story to it. As one track finishes its seems to flow effortlessly into the next track. Great examples of this are “Withered World” and “Trooping For Euarthropodia” .Musically this album has a diverse sound dipping its toes into Prog Rock and also a bit of Prog Metal, blended in with some Doom and Stoner Rock with a bit of 70's and 80's Hard Rock as well.”Arthobotic Liberty” has that classic 70's sound Thin Lizzy & Queen influenced within the melody, those Hammond organs touches and galloping guitar driven riffs. There is also that diverse and modern element of bands like Mastodon in tracks like the opener “Eschaton” ,”Insects Took Over” and “Nutritional Protocol”. “Aeon” concludes the album with a weird and wonderful synth style intro with some mellow and heavier passages,a dramatic track to end the album.
I really loved the diversity of this album, the different genres & influences was interesting to listen to and how they managed to put them together musically. Grey Czar deliver a strong release with“ Euarthropodia” it is a weird and very surreal album, but very interesting. so much it fully grabs your attention.
