Green Carnation - Journey To The End Of The Night album cover

Darkness, cold and melancholia. These three words can define the music of Green Carnation. As you can see from the line up the guitar player is Tchort ( Carpathian Forest, Formed Emperor and Satyricon) so many of you might be happy right now. He is a great guitar player but now let's see what is so dark about the album? The lyrics deal with the death of his daughter... There's nothing such painful like the loss of your child. Nothing can be compared to this pain. So imagine all this pain and sadness attached on an album. Green Carnation was formed in 1990 by X-Botteri, Cristopher Botteri, Tchort and Anders Kobro. They released a Death Metal demo in 1991/1992, Hallucinations of Despair, which was sold in 400 copies but after some line changes they changed their name into In The Woods. Now they are back.

The music is a mix between doom and atmospheric metal. The sound is very dark and as melancholic as it gets. The lyrics of the album as I said before deal with the death of Tchort's daughter. The whole album is a concept about that tragic event. So, you can feel his pain on the music, on every single tune. Sadness reigns. It's not sadness about a woman or a love that died. The feelings are way too deeper. I can't find any words to express my thoughts about this album. The only thing that I have to say is that this album is really hard to get into it. You might find it boring in the beginning but it worth's your attention. It grew inside me after 9-10 listening sessions. If you are into doom and atmospheric metal you should buy this album without a second thought. You're gonna love it as I did. All of you should check it out and give sometime to yourselves to follow this journey of sorrow. It touched my heart and i think it can touch yours too. Let the journey begin.

This album will take you in a cold dark night under the stars near the sea shore..
