Grand Supreme Blood Court - Bow Down Before The Blood Court album cover

All rise!!! A deep guttural voice is heard in the GRAND SUPREME BLOOD COURT as its five members enter the room tall and merciless with blood in their eyes. Then the voice calls again "Bow Down Before The Blood Court" and the tolling of a bell is heard in the distance. Heads start to roll as the judges deliver justice, pain, gore and massive amounts of good old school death metal. Before my hands is the first release of a five piece band which members are associated with bands like ASPHYX,PESTILENCE and HAIL OF BULLETS among others.

This eleven track release delivers from start to finish merciless old school Death Metal. References to the style of music can be found in bands like NECROVORE, BOLT THROWERFUNERAL BITCH and of course to the style of the bands of the five judges. The songs are hitting in general medium speeds and other than the eleventh, ten minute long song, run for approximately four minutes. There is a very simplistic and straightforward approach to the songs. "All Rise", "Bow Down Before The Blood Court", "Behead the Defense" and "Piled Up For The Scavengers" are all fine examples of how judgment is delivered by the GRAND SUPREME BLOOD COURT.The lyrics as the cover of the record are all soaked in blood and gore is the prevailing element of the record and obviously the beloved hobby of the five bloodthirsty judges.

GRAND SUPREME BLOOD COURT's members are all from Netherlands and this is their first record since the formation of the band back in 2009. Their approach is quite interesting as they combine old school death metal with a gore image of five guys that are delivering brutal justice in their own sense. As such all the album title, the songs' titles and the name of the band members are reflecting this approach. The simplistic structure of the songs is vital for the atmosphere of the record but I would prefer a more complex work in guitar riffs as it is in most cases changes in fifth chords. This unfortunately makes the record monotonous in various parts and deducts from the occasional moshing urge. "Bow Down Before The Blood Court" is an honest effort from people who love what they are doing and I would like to see how things will evolve concept wise in the second record.  Until then "Bow Down Before The Blood Court" and "Behead the Defense".
