The Swiss Metal machine seems to function perfectly, in this Heavy way over the years, by delivering bands like KROKUS, CRYSTAL BALL and GOTTHARD. GODIVA are here to stand beside their countrymen with pride, and to prove to the rest of the world they can play Metal music of great value.

After their self-titled Godiva CD in 2001, that they dare to compare with JUDAS PRIEST's masterpiece Painkiller (a really arrogant statement, I must say ), and Call Me Under 666 in 2005, GODIVA managed to make a name for themselves in the Metal scene. Greek metalheads should remember GODIVA when they opened for WHITESNAKE and SCORPIONS in 2006, in Karaiskaki Stadium, when the members of the band appeared on stage with Olympiakos Piraeus FC kits and their music was well received by the Greek crowd, something that GODIVA mention to their press resume even today. GODIVA joined Mausoleum Records now and here we have their latest release, entitled as Destruction.

GODIVA made a great job with their third album. Musically, the edged riffs and fast double-bass drum tempos place Destruction in the pure Heavy Metal genre, with magnificent guitar work, from our fellow Greek Steve Papacharitos and Sammy Lasagni; they can produce straight forward dual guitar riffs, both melodic  and heavy.

The album has a solid production and Dennis Ward is responsible for the Power Metal sound with a lot of JUDAS PRIEST post-Painkiller intentions, and some GOTTHARD-outbrakes in certain points, when the music slows down a bit. Lasagni and bass player, Mitch Kootz, co-produced Destruction and gave their final touch.

Fernando Garcia (BISS, ex-VICTORY) handles the vocal parts, without trying to imitate the vocal tone of one and only Rob Halford, that marked the particular Metal strain. Garcia has his own style as far as I know. But Peter Gander does the dirty drum work, with unstoppable fast tempo and hard rhythm changes.

Overall, Destruction has great Heavy Metal moments that can give to the middle-clash Metal fan something to remember. If these fast riffs and high-pitched vocals isn't your thing, walk away. If JUDAS PRIEST and their metallic legacy attracts your interest, go out and get Destruction; you won't regret it.
