Dreaming Delusion

Gloombound

This was a delicious slab of Death and Doom Metal that freely toyed with your emotions. Sometimes, that meant driving an aggressive sound down your throat until you welled with anger, and at other times, you wallowed in despair. They also leave you with just enough hope to come back to the album again and again.

Cavernous, grinding abyss of massively dark psychedelic sonic sorcery. This is the coalescence of consequence. 45 minutes of beautiful and tragic cavernous, wistful, atmospheric death/doom that slowly grinds you into shreds. Drown into this titanic abyss of massively dark psychedelic sonic magic. The album has five songs, and "At the Precipice to Longinquity" is first. It's a slow, powerful number, with guttural vocals that grumble at times, and awaken with anger at others. Each strike of the guitars sound like a meteor crashing on earth. Much of the hatred fades away just after the halfway mark, and we are left with clean, somber guitar tones and charming melodies. The desolate sound comes back, however, more hopeless than ever.

"An Eternity of Complete Acquiescence" is another slow, strong, firm and weighted song that also carries some somber melodies in tow. At times, the song can provide a little hope, but the aggressive melancholy washes it away. A cavernous and chaotic sound follows, filled out with thickness and horrid vocals. Piano and bass play well together also. "Salvation" is a short interlude the seemingly connects the first two songs with the last two, and it's really the first look we get at some light within the deep, dark shadows. "Luminary Dissolution" is darker, firmer, and digs a much deeper hole. The guttural and low riffs keep the song buried in aggression and desolation.

The lengthy title track closes the album, at close to 16 minutes. The opening crushing riff is also accompanied by backing keys. I don't know which has more impact…the gloomy clean vocals, or the deadly harsh vocals. Both seem to contribute equally to the desperate sound. Anger swells, and guitar leads sing at times, until you just can't take it, and then it's gone. The drag out the painful tones for what seems like weeks, even months. Oddly, some hopeful tones come in at the end. This was a delicious slab of Death and Doom Metal that freely toyed with your emotions. Sometimes, that meant driving an aggressive sound down your throat until you welled with anger, and at other times, you wallowed in despair. They also leave you with just enough hope to come back to the album again and again.
