GLEMT is a Raw Black Metal band formed in the UK in 2019. This is their debut release, on Inferna Profundus Records, and contains eight tracks. In the vein of Black Metal bands, Oroba prefers to keep a bit about the band anonymous. Also in the vein of Black Metal, some of the song titles are ridiculous. "Under Lamenting Romanticism of Nights Torment" leads off the album. Raw Black Metal, indeed. The production is quite terrible, and the track consists mostly of noise, an occasional guitar riff, thunderous drumming, and blood-curdling screams.

"Heirlooms" is a slower song where the harrowing qualities have a little more time to develop. So far, the album sounds amateur at best, and it is somewhat hard to believe that the band is signed to a label. "Entranced by Ebon Shadows" is much like the previous two tracks, with a running, out of tune guitar riff and some screams. The riff thickens a bit with the addition of audible bass notes, and it changes gear around the half-way mark, with an even more evil sound. However, some parts don't mesh very well together, especially the dissonance. Towards the end, it drops to just some ambient noise.

"Phasmophobia" opens with a scary scream, followed by more tortured wails. The find a riff that works and just repeat it into the ground over and over again. Even the percussion is fairly bad...with amateur qualities as he struggles to keep the beat. "Hiraeth" is a ten-minute opus, featuring eerie organ notes that carry the song past the three-minute mark. From there, dissonant guitar chords take over, along with those tortured screams...ever-present. "Behold, Universal Wrath" brings more of the same to the table...harrowing screams and music, and more of that amateur quality. The title track is a seven-minute beast, beginning with a long scream and a slow, lumbering pace. It settles into a faster groove from there, but does not bring many original elements.

"Southen Crux" closes the album...a short, two-minutes of organ music, and female spoken words. I have reviewed many a Black Metal album over the years...probably in the hundreds. I will never understand why some artists insist on maintaining the old school sound of their forefathers, especially considering the bounty of sub-genres that have risen up over the years. Don't waste your time on this album...there is very little to discuss positively.
