Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: GHOULHOUSE; signed via Horror, Pain, Gore, Death Productions, hailing from Swedish grounds - performing Death Metal, on their debut album entitled: "Rigor Mortis Intermezzo" (released September 11th, 2020).
The trio in question have 3 singles entitled: "Maze of Human Bones" (released August 6th 2020); "Necroholics Anonymous" (released August 20th, 2020), "Zombified and Berserk" (released September 2nd, 2020) & this here debut album entitled: "Rigor Mortis Intermezzo". 12 tracks ranging at around 33:53; GHOULHOUSE arrange an intricately designed formula of some heavy-hitting Death Metal developments.
Opening up with a blistering array of distorted calamities; GHOULHOUSE bombard eardrums into a barrage frenzy of amplified adrenaline, and boisterously bouncy crunchiness that will rattle heads in no time. "Maze Of Human Bones" shreds with rip-roaring jumpiness; the kind that revels with primitively punchy rawness, tempestuously skyrocketing into a hybrid grind of rapidly swift nimbleness & quintessential virtuosity of riveting proportions. Experimenting groovy executions, deadly trailblazing & sonically seamless gnarliness...gravitating into an rampant romp of sturdy hardiness in which surges with tight weight while slabbing this solid triggering of savagely monstrous thunder. "The Beast Of The Morgue" rumbles with more reverberating noise terror; ruthless pandemonium trembles speakers with extreme fretwork dynamics, lacerating killer momentum & razor-sharp hooks in which manifest this meticulous tempo of sulphurous firepower expertise.
Consisting of Rogga Johansson on bass/guitars/vocals; the multitasker demonstrates audible bass frolics, infectiously injecting venomous thumpiness while slaying with dexterously frantic snappiness that pummels brains into a splattering mass of contorted combustion. Chugging guitar intensity drones into a fierce swamp of bludgeoning but bulldozing belters, bruising skulls with tenaciously towering substance & organic chaos, drilling a chiselling fabrication of increasing but groundbreaking maelstrom vehemence with immense force. "Necroholics Anonymous" stampedes with more vicious synergy of profusely robust drum hammering batters from Mr. Meatbeater; who rambunctiously slams with stompy, steely precision...pile-driving with wildly rushing yet rampaging perseverance that will make you break chairs over other chairs...instrumentally crushing into a bleeding brute of monolithic songwriting musicianship mayhem.
Elsewhere, the titular track flamboyantly contrasts a frightening element in ghastly but foreboding uproar...oozing out outbursting raspiness while Rogga showcases these throaty snarls that bellow into a deep, guttural growl...barking like an enraged madman - screaming with rebellious torment - of the good kind. "Loveshack Graveyard" is a radical yet wicked groove-bomb of speedy malice, Håkan Stuvemark on lead guitars fluidly provides polished rhythms that systematically oscillates with remedious malevolence while portraying striking pursuits of rollicking stability - detailing a chunky panache of sinister attributes and barbaric devastation that will possess you to lust for bloody belligerence in catchy but harmonic retribution. The "Ghoulhouse Theme" reminds me of this B-Movie horror film outtake, this soundscape is also similarly profound within the last track "Decomposing Beat." Both create this cheesy density of synth-like outliers, juxtaposing this unique versatility on composing humorously computerised but euphonic beats, allowing a short reprieve before diving back into madness that's offered throughout this tribal, and bloody warlike machine.
"Rotten Flesh Ballet" embellishes on this volatile kick on visceral rifts while sludgy filth aesthetics establish a healthy dose of crust infused blends buried deep within these blinding catacombs of carnage, slime & maximum persistence. "Needle And Thread For The Rotting Undead" is a goryfied heft of gouge melting thickness, sweltering with berserking havoc and bulky melodies which pound with evil empowering virulence. "Sawlaw" revs up like a human tearing slasher, where the evolving fuel of searing nastiness scours with scorching and blood-splattering scatters of skull-banging & bone-crushing devastation, pulsating with ominous yet widespread ruination. "Zombified And Berserk" acts like a blood-hungry crimson-head (see the Resident Evil 1 Remake) but contaminated with this ravenous thirst for an assimilating ravaging of the human body, merge that with human-form, you unleash this maddening hunger for this salubrious mosh-pit penance that will thrive you with this untamed yet psychotic behaviour for sure.
The penultimate track "Ghoulhouse" overall concludes the record with addictive choppiness; this one has an incredible amount of replay value with the sheer magnitude on chompy eeriness, hauntingly daunting hypnotism compels you to put on that disinterested but beastly face while you plod through neck-breaking density.
Bottom line; GHOULHOUSE were just what I needed today, I am compelled to say that they most certainly outdone themselves for a debut album. The utter storm of steamrolling severity will punish your soul with spellbinding thrashiness, making this a discovery that most definitely deserves a listen. "Rigor Mortis Intermezzo" is an enjoyably entertaining spin that will unleash your inner demonic presence within, massive performances await! Check it out.
