Here we have GEORGE LYNCH & JEFF PILSON bring us an album full of covers! If ever we needed a rock sound to some old songs I would say that time is now. Bringing a different era of music into a new sound that brings out a differentt aspect of power than the song originally did. Giving new power to some old songs that held their own power back sometime ago. This album is skillfully crafted in a way that allows one to hear key portions of these songs in a powerful rock tone, in a way it holds the old feel of the music.
"One Of Us" is brought to life with a nice soft guitar intro leading into the soothing vocals the accompany. Holding a soft power throughout, it keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for more. And it delivers. This song holds so much power in its rock implementation and is relevant in life. Think of "god" as just someone like us. Not getting religious by any means, not a fan of religion, but I like concepts and the concept of god is something that I can get behind in ways. "What if god were one of us?"
Another noteworthy song on here for me was "Music" as I remember this song from being a child. It holds the upbeat tone but in an appealing rock ballad. The music has a tone that still makes you wanna move, but with more edge. The rock tones of this song make it pop in ways that it didn't to me before. Another song I remember is the next one on the list "Apologize" and this song also holds it's own on the list. Beautiful lyrics make this cover feel true to its core, while giving it just the right amount of flare for it to be great!
"Champagne Supernova" is another great song that is covered on this album. Holding in its super peaceful original, the vocals are done masterfully. The feel of the song is all that it ever was with a new edge, arguably making it the best cover on the album. It will have you just jammin like back in the day before everything got so crazy. And that is something I feel the world could very well use right now!
If covers are your thing and you need an escape back into a different time, then HEAVY HITTERS is most likely just what you need! Go give it a listen and you will not be disappointed.
