“Necronomicon Automaton” sends out a message: old school Thrash Metal is alive and well!
June 2, 2025

GAMA BOMB were formed in 2002 and they were initially from Newry, Northern Ireland, today, from Dublin, Ireland. The Thrash Metal outfit released eight full-length albums, and now their second EP. “Necronomicon Automaton” was produced, mixed, and mastered by guitarist Domo Dixon. The EP has a length of about 13 minutes, and it was released via US Death, Black, and progressive Metal specialists Prosthetic Records. No official video has been released yet. The EP has a frantic start with the fast “Nunchuks!”. The guitars deliver a classical, tight, and aggressive Thrash Metal riffing, while the vocals are mostly clean and they vary between the medium and the higher end of the vocal range with quite a few highly pitched notes. The choruses include backing vocals with a few Hardcore vibes. “Nunchuks!” maintains the crazy pace for most of the time. It is a relatively short track without any break and a good opening track of the EP. “Intror The Deceiver” is a mid-tempo track with powerful guitar riffs and crushing basslines. The vocals are slightly deeper with only very few highly pitched notes. There are once again backing vocals added at times. The track has a few 80s ANTHRAX vibes. The highlight is the break with the extended and contributing lead guitar solo.

Necropanzer” is a more melodic track with a mixture of fast and mid-tempo parts. The guitar riffing is tight, and the vocals follow the melodies. The vocals are two-parted with a mixture of lower and highly pitched notes, where the screams have a few Rob Halford vibes. Altogether, “Necropanzer” cannot quite keep up with the other tracks on the EP. The release finishes with the title track and that one comes with insane pace, aggression, tight Thrash Metal riffing, and crushing basslines. The vocals are supported once again by backing vocals for the chorus line. There is a mid-tempo break, introduced by punishing guitar riffing and the vocals, before it all leads into a melodic lead guitar solo, which gives the track an additional layer. Unlike many other breaks, this one is the end of the title track. GAMA BOMB deliver classical Thrash Metal. “Necronomicon Automaton” is probably one of those traditional Thrash Metal releases with the most 80s vibes. The tracks are a celebration of old school Thrash Metal classics. The guitars deliver typical Thrash Metal riffing, while the vocals are a mixture of the best of what the 80s had to offer. The EP is well produced. Necronomicon Automaton” sends out a message: old school Thrash Metal is alive and well!
