Full Leather Jackets - Forgiveness Sold Out album cover

FULL LEATHER JACKETS is a band from Italy, formed in 2013 playing loosely in the heavy metal genre, 80's style. Upon listening to the album twice, it is clear that the guys have practiced their instruments quite well, but unfortunately, they forgot to add a very, very important part : substance.
Instrumentally speaking, the album sounds good. Guitars have a nice, crisp sound to themselves, few solos here and there are really nice; the bass and drums are also well composed, best sounding on "Son Of The Morning Star" and the vocal does a good job overall, but yet, there's almost nothing making the listener want to go back to listen to it again. I have listened to the album 3 times; in general, I do that gladly, enjoying some songs, some even repeating a couple times due to enjoyement. This was not the case, even the second time playing started dozing me off. Although well composed, the album does not really have anything to catch the listener, to get his attention, to start his obsession to  listen again or to sing along. They sound decent, like a filler, while you search for something else. The songs themselves lack depth and the lyrics do not really speak at all - about anything -to probably no one.

"Son of the morning star" was the song I can say I listened to and enjoyed the most. Somehow that American Indian  touch gave it a bonus to make it more interesting, and it had something out of the ordinary. Somehow, it sounded like it was influenced by some IRON MAIDEN songs, and the simple, repetitive riffs worked quite well on the background. I have to say it was the most decent song, and my choice from "Forgiveness Sold Out". Interesting to mention would be the slow, yet pleasant piano solo of "Steel Pirates" (bet you didn't expect slow piano in a song named "Steel Pirates", but here you go), which gets followed by a dark guitar riff and a first albums BRUCE DICKINSON's voice singing something that barely has some vague connections to pirates, but ok, it sounds rather nice overall.

It is very hard to explain my opinions regarding this album. I do not want to say it is bad, because it actually sounds rather good and well made. It  just lacks any feel to it, it does not share any emotion, nor does it make the listener get up and jump around or at least sing along. It is... bland. I think that is the best word to describe it. There is clear potential here, the guys could do so much more. But I think they require a bit of a push into that direction. I hope they get that push, and I'll gladly try their next album with high hopes.
