British Disaster The Battle of '89 (Live At The Astoria)

Exodus

EXODUS has nailed another good one on my list. “British Disaster The Battle of '89 (Live At The Astoria)” is one of the best live recordings I have heard in the last number of years, and it will undoubtedly be part of my phone's play list for a very long time.

Well, this is going to be about the easiest Heavy Metal Record review I have ever written. You must be wondering why. Let me tell you. First off, I am a massive EXODUS fan and have been so since theuir debut album “Bonded By Blood” until now. I like all periods, which are with singers Paul Baloff, Steve “Zetro” Souza and Rob Dukes. But most inportant of all is that at the time of this recording, EXODUS had only released brillant albums with outstanduing music.

I was actually living in the UK in 1989, in a small village called Tiffield, near Towcester (Northamptonshire), and went to see the guys in the Woughton Centre at the University of Milton Keynes. They played with support act ACID REIGN that night. And to make it even more obvious; EXODUS were in top form. They played a blinder of a show and on top of that I got two momentos to remember; a denim Metal vest that now houses all the autographs of the band. The other one was that during the last song of ACID REIGN I got smothered in custard pies by EXODUS themselves! It was their way of thasnking me for the hand painted “And The There Were None” shirt I gave Zetro at Dynamo Open Air in 1988.

So, now you understabnd why this is easy work for me. What I do like is that a lot of the errors made are in there, left untouched, which only adds to the authentic feel of “British Disaster The Battle of '89 (Live At The Astoria)”. Apparently it was a brilliant night there as well, as one of my best mates told me he was actually present at this gig. I haven't got a clue whether the band thought noput their set list in great detail, but I feel they have done themselves justice with all the songs played on “British Disaster The Battle of '89 (Live At The Astoria)”. What I am glad about is that all talks in between have been left out, so no shouts to start murdering posers and such. The sound on the album is sublime, can't fault it at all.

There you have it. EXODUS has nailed another good one on my list. “British Disaster The Battle of '89 (Live At The Astoria)” is one of the best live recordings I have heard in the last number of years, and it will undoubtedly be part of my phone's play list for a very long time.
