I guess that this band is only a ghost wandering around the ruins of its history. EXMORTEM just keep convincing me that they are never going to reach the level of their first three albums. I guess you want to know why I am saying all these things, but I guess that if you keep reading all your questions will be answered.

The Danish death metallers EXMORTEM are kicking ass since 1992. Their debut album Labyrinths Of Horror (1995) showed that this was a force to be reckoned and they continued amazing the Metal community with magnificent Death Metal albums like Dejected In Obscurity (1998) and Berzerker Legions (2001). That's where it kind of collapsed... the band was left with no founding members and Martin Thim (ex-ILLDISPOSED) became EXMORTEM's leader.

Since then, two more albums saw the light of day. The band tries to make a new start by signing a contract with the Danish label Mighty Music and presenting their 6th full-length work. What I was saying in the beginning is that I listened to the album many times, but I honestly wasn't attracted by it even for a second. No, it is not one of the worst Death Metal releases I have ever heard, but it is unacceptable for such a band to release such an average album. Where are the times when razor sharp riffs would come out of the blue and nail you to the ground?

A complete disappointment for me. I know that many will hate me for what I wrote, as well as many will agree with me. The fact is that as I said above (and I will say it for one more time) Funeral Phantoms is an unacceptable release for EXMORTEM.
