Unfortunately, I was not able to gather any information about this band…their Bandcamp page didn’t have any, and they don’t have an entry on The Metal Archives. So, we will have to let the music do the talking here. The album has eight songs, and “Three Sisters” is first. The opening tones are weighted, and somewhat dark…more like a mostly cloudy day. The vocals however are gentle, and there is a lot of tension in the air…and that tension hangs around. “Mirage Artist” has a riff with a bit of a groove to it, and the atmosphere is still cloudy. Rather than cutting through it however, the band just lets it ride. I also get some Doom elements in this song, and the background is full of harrowing elements.

“Low” has gentle tones that speak of loss, or perhaps regret to me. I get that feeling of when you are partially awake…walking around in a haze until are your bearings are back again, and the hard riff reminds you of your losses. “A Greene Heart” is another song that walks the fine line between anger and depression. There aren’t any outbursts necessarily, but you can hear some real resolve in Kelly’s voice. “The Twelfth Thread” has a heavier groove to it, and I love the tone in the guitars. The main riff is a bit bossy, a bit pushy, but it doesn’t overtake some of the dreadful tones in the music. “The Burrow” is another song with melancholy, and some might even say sad tones. Again, the band does a nice job of letting that feeling hang around but not overtaking the sound.

“Cavern of Souls” presents firmer tones, augmented with some nice guitar work. Some of the anger comes through stronger here as well. “Crackledlands” is the final offering, and I get the sense of being somewhere in the rural, deep south on a hot day. The lazy day passes without incident, and you just can’t escape the heat. The album is hard to categorize, and that is what makes it as good as it is. I get some Gothic elements, some Doom, even some Post here, and they combine all of the in a way that just makes the listener feel melancholy. But feel you will, that is for sure.
