Entropy O.A.C. - Dark Clouds And Clarity album cover

Well, in our present time, Singles are being the preferred format to a release from new bands. They are cheaper to be recorded and, this is a test to see if they can call some attention for future, to show their work and hope a great number of fans can be gathered. It's a valid strategy in a time where the public is so pulverized in many trends on Metal, and with an unbelievable number of bands. But it can serve as well as a thermometer to bands that already have an album or previous release to warm things up for a future new album. Ones as the quartet ENTROPY O.A.C. shows on "Dark Clouds And Clarity", their second work.

Their music is heavy and abrasive, but melodic and with a very good and modern vibe. Of course these words can mean an ample range of sonorities, but in their case, you need to hear to find out what they are doing. The vocals are melodic and strong (but some guttural grunts are present on "Realm of Grey"), guitars are using very abrasive tunes, but creating some good and charming melodies, the bass guitar does some very good arrangements (again, her what I'm saying on "Realm of Grey"), and the drums are doing a fine work, allying a good technical level with a heavy work when the song needs weight. Of course, their work needs more maturing, but it's good. The sound quality is very good: clean, loud and heavy in the way the band's work can flow with no problem, and can be fully understood. No complains about this aspect, of
course.

Three songs are presented on this Single: "Failure To Thrive" is a perfect mix of abrasive riffs and a strong rhythmic kitchen with melodic voices, having a certain feeling of commercial accessibility; "Endless Fire", a song with a more introspective insight, again with a strong melodic vibe. Grunts in low guttural tunes are heard on "Realm Of Grey", a heavier and abrasive song, but again, melodies are presented on vocals, but on this track, bass and drums are more technical than on previous ones.

Good work, indeed.
