Autumn Embrace
Enisum

From Bandcamp, "Three years after their latest studio release, Italy Atmospheric/Post-Black metal veterans ENISUM are back. Avantgarde Music is proud to announce the release of "Autumn Embrace," slated for release in March 2026. This latest work marks another milestone in the band's rich and evolving journey through the landscapes of mountain-inspired black metal expression. Brought to life at Crosound Studio under the expert guidance of Øystein Garnes Brun, who mixed and mastered the album in December 2025, "Autumn Embrace" captures ENISUM at the peak of their artistic powers. The album channels seasonally evocative themes through expansive compositions and rich textures, framing the band's signature atmospheric approach with heightened clarity and emotional resonance."
The album has seven songs, and "Nowhere" is first. A soft rain falls on a bed of forest leaves, followed by smooth, gentle guitars. I can see the scene…it's a chilly autumn morning, and fog hangs low to the ground. Your path through the trees is hindered by water and mud, but you trudge ahead, slower with each step. Consider the title when listening to the song, and this scene will come to life. The title track moves fast out of the gate, with rough rhythms, galloping drum work, and vocal screams. That level of melancholy from the first song is still very much there. "Oblivion Cave" has a slow crawl of death, and gutturals to match. Approaching the half way mark, much of the distortion drops, leaving tension behind. It swells again, and darkness spreads across the lands.
"Woods of Lost Souls" has another hearty sound of drums, cymbal crashes, and tortured vocal screams, but there is also a bit of melody. It's sad, however, akin to the title. If the lost should have found a place to gather, they aren't really lost. "Miss You" is the wildcard on the album. It's sentimental, sweet, and sad, and you can hear his clean vocals fill with emotion. The harsh vocals tell another story however, when he might finally be able to work up enough energy to scream out. "Forest Breath" is the final song, and it has a nice combination of aggression with deep melodies. Sometime, the forest can be still, peaceful, and a nice place to get away. Other times, especially at dark, it hides shadows, growls, and piercing eyes. Which of the two does its breath speak of to you?
The best part about the album was how well the artists connected visuals with the music. The song titles came to life before my eyes, and I could almost follow the tale by watching with my eyes. The album cover tells a lot about what you might find here in your listening experience…hues of orange leaves tell me it's mid-fall and the mist that hangs low with mountain spires rising sharply in the background. It's an inviting scene, but also one that might be marked with danger. Will you step into the forest?
