Edguy - Mandrake album cover

It was a nice and peaceful noon and I was lying down at my bed, lazy as always trying to get a nap. I couldn't sleep so I decide to put Edguy's new album Mandrake into the stereo, speculator that the music will lull me. Well I was wrong. The first notes from Tears Of A Mandrake really blow my brains out of my head.
I was shocked!! I bought this cd 5 days ago and I didn't find the time to hear it until that noon. Big mistake. Tobias Sammet surprised us again one more time in this year (don't forget Avantasia) by releasing this incredible album. Only one word could describe my feelings during the hearing of this masterpiece: Harmony!!
Mandrake is the latest album release of the German melodic power metallers Edguy and you can be sure it's their best so far (even better than Theatre Of Salvation). What we got here is probably the best melodic power metal album of the year. Or should I say the best metal album of the year? That's up to you, but my vote goes to this one.
The songs are very well ordered in the album and extremely catchy. It's like if you hear them once than sticks in your head forever. Tobias brilliant writing prove us that Edguy is not even close to the typical power metal clone bands. Tears Of A Mandrake is probably the best opener track that Tobias Sammet could chose because it gets you directly in the right mood.
It's really bootless to mention every song separately. The album contains 11 explosive, bang-your-head-for-64-minutes tracks. 64 minutes of pure heavy melodic music. The irresistible traditional double bass drum joint by the crystal clear vocals makes you dreaming. The sound quality is just magnificent, something I was expecting since the production made at Finnvox Studios.
Mandrake is a triumph for the entire power metal scene and Edguy are now part of the leviathans of this kind. I have no words to describe this album better than EXCELLENT! If you are into melodic power metal it's simply an album you can't afford to miss. If you are sick all these flying dragons and legendary power metal releases than meet one of the greatest bands of the new century.
