Earth Of Distrust - I Am Sin album cover

One more demo coming from a Greek underground Metal band. What will it be this time? Some Black/Death Metal stuff? I hope not. This time I want to listen to something different. Let's see... That's it, thank you EARTH OF DISTRUST for not being a typical Metal band! Let's get on with some weird stuff!

EARTH OF DISTRUST were formed in 2004 in Athens. The line up has been the same since then and this is their first release ever. The music is really nice and interesting. They play a strange mixture of Stoner, Hardcore and post stuff like ISIS etc. Imagine PANTERA playing post Hardcore. Something like that. In Sons Of Distrust Part I for example, you can listen to a smooth rhythm that reminds of the slow moments of ISIS, while a Blues/Stoner solo makes you wanna grab a bottle of whiskey and drink the living shit out of it! The production is not the best possible, but it can be described the least decent.

In I Am Sin, you can also find NEED's singer Jon V. making a guest appearance in the intro and the outro of this demo CD. What I didn't like were the vocals, since they could be really good for a Black or Death Metal band, but this genre requires softer vocals. Spoonman's voice is mostly for a Death Metal or a Hardcore band. Even the clean vocals are not so attractive in my opinion.

Anyway, the fact is that this band offers something different and avoids the typical standards. Some mistakes are justified since this is the band's first release. EARTH OF DISTRUST show some potential and I think they can do much better than that. I think you should check these guys out!

You can buy the demo for 2 euros at Dimitris Karantzinis, Tsakalof 5, Ano Liosia, 13341 Attiki, or you can send a mail to earthofdistrust@yahoo.com.
