Infinite Reminiscence

DVRK

Listening to the album, you can clearly understand why the songs are so short, because the band packs in the sound so tight and dense, and they pour in a century of hate into each composition. This music is not for the faint of heart.

From Bandcamp, “French powerhouse DVRK fuses Deathcore, Nu Metal, and Bass music into a sound distinctly their own. Since their formation in 2019, they have effortlessly navigated the music scene, evolving from a solo project to a full-fledged band with notable collaborations under their belt. Dive into the depths of emotion and experience with DVRK's debut EP, Infinite Reminiscence. Across six destructive tracks, the band navigates through themes of self-experience, addiction, depression, and loss, with a narrative detour into the macabre tale of a killer.

“Distant Roads” is first, and you are hit with that quintessential Deathcore sound…a low and extremely heavy bottom end and a variety of vocal styles. Eerie electronics hang in the air and give the song some depth. “Breathless” has some of the meatiest bass notes I have ever heard, and the vocals are cadenced in that Nu Metal style in between horribly vile guitar parts. They drive the weight home until it sits on you like a thousand pounds of concrete. “The Secret” also has a heavy cadence, and some guitar effects to give it some more dissonance. The breakdown hits you like a wave of sludge that would bury anything in its path.

“Paco” has a dark entrance, and soon enough, the circuit is overloaded and the electricity comes searing in. This song carries a heavy emotional burden with it, although mostly anger, I also hear some frustration boiling over. “Colors” has some chugging in the guitars that sound like an engine trying to turn over in the cold. The accents are big, bulky, and substantial. “F.A.M.” closes the EP. It has a nice combination of low weighty dissonance and some melody mixed in the upper ranges. Each time they strike a note, you can feel it reverberate into the very ground you stand on.

Listening to the album, you can clearly understand why the songs are so short, because the band packs in the sound so tight and dense, and they pour in a century of hate into each composition. This music is not for the faint of heart.
