DREYELANDS is promising band that hails from Hungary. "Rooms Of Revelation" is the title of their debut release released through Lion Music a label that can be considered a Hard Rock/AOR band scout having discovered many gems-to-be. The band in question counts only seven years of activity but listening to the album opener "Room 1 - Seek For Salvation" one can mistaken DREYELANDS as a longtime running act.

This is a concept album supporting quite an interesting story where a man suffering from schizophrenia searches the different rooms inside his mind to discover where all the women in his life go after passing with them the very first night. From the concept point of view the album can be considered successful since the building tension towards the final revelation (I won't tell you what happens in the end) finds a way out through the added heaviness as the tracklist progresses. The album opener kicks in with a mid tempo pace building the scenery to host the story that is about to unfold. The mid to high pitched vocals and the heavy keyboard work justifies the progressive tag this band carries throughout the album. Fortunately for me, the Hard Rock element is quite strong here and often touches the AOR territory serving the songs with massive portions of melody that take the band on a safe distance away from the overloaded progressive average releases. If anyone tries to track the band's influences then names like SYMPHONY X, MIND ODYSSEY will pop up and eventually bring in plain sight the Swedish Hard Rock layer as heard in "Room 3 - Pretending" where the hearty 4/4 tempo rules.

As the story comes closer to the shocking (for the hero) ending DREYELANDS add more distortion in the guitars bringing a late DREAM THEATER breeze in their music. The album sounds like a solid session with minimal pauses between the tracks giving the impression that you actually walk inside a building opening doors to dim lighted rooms. During the album closing "Leaving Grace" I discovered some BEYOND TWILIGHT influences that could be a more fitting music profile for the Hungarian band; but this is a matter of personal taste, isn't it?

The bottom line is that DREYELANDS make a 'loud' entrance to the progressive Metal scene and seem/sound to have the potentials to grow and carve a path of their one staying safe from the lurking copycat traps many bands of this genre tend to fall. But only time will tell... until then indulge yourselves with "Rooms Of Revelation" and discover the ending to this story told here.
