Dragonforce - Valley Of The Damned album cover

DragonForce are a new metal band from England. Completely original, from the double axe team to the amazing vocal cords of the singer, Dragonforce are a (musical) force to be reckoned with!
I love their guitar tone and the voice of the singer, it is beautiful and has an excellent range!
DragonForce are a Progressive Metal band with strong Power Metal tendencies, and it is from that genre of metal that they get their attitude. Their music is uplifting, even the sad songs are designed to make you feel better. They seem to say things are terrible right now, we know, but they'll get better!
I remember I first heard them before the actual album came out, when only the demo was available (mp3.com). My little brother found the band and downloaded Starfire he got so excited he woke me up and dragged my half asleep butt to the computer. I put on the earphones and my brain was absolutely BLOWN!
Time for a rundown of what each song means to me:
Invocation of Apocalyptic Evil, is the introduction leading to Valley of the Damned and has no lyrics.
Valley of the Damned, is an extremely powerful song, it's melodic chords carry you through the Valley of the Damned, and the quest that brings the song's heroes to it. This is a song about overcoming tremendous odds and the pride resulting from it. The music lifts your spirits from even it's lowest points and deposits them on Mount Everest... and that isn't bad considering that this song is named Valley of the Damned!
Blackfire is about fighting your self doubt and striving to overcome the difficulties of your life.
Black Winter Night is about continuing to fight even when there is no hope. You never know, you might still win. It is a particularly catchy song with a powerful chorus that pulls on your heartstrings as if lassoed by a giant! It is my second favorite song on the album.
Starfire is the best song on the album. The piano in this song is beautiful and the guitar-work is heart-wrenching! The lyrics are extremely good, and Z.P.'s voice is amazing! Again, it is about not giving up, because no one is immortal.
Disciples of Babylon is about a desperate attempt for escape. It is a particularly catchy song, my third favorite on the album.
Revelations is about the end of time, when the four horsemen of the Apocalypse ride. It is inspiring and just screams to be head-banged to...
Evening Star begins with a nice soft bit and kicks into a full fledged, speedy power metal song. It is about the desire and search for something better. It's guitar-work is especially good and is very catchy!
Heart of a Dragon is a victory song, and that is a fitting note to end the album on, because Heart of a Dragon is a definite metal anthem! Track 10 The last track is only on the Japanese version of Valley of the Damned, so I do not have that one.
DragonForce are a band to keep your eyes on in the future, on every song the headbangability is through the roof! I highly recommend them.
