Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: DISFUNERAL; signed via Redefining Darkness Records, hailing from French grounds - performing Death Metal, kn their debut full-length studio album entitled: "Blood Red Tentacle" (released April 25th, 2022). Since formation in 2015 originally as HERPES; the quartet in question have a self-titled EP, and a debut full-length studio album in their discography so far entitled: "Blood Red Tentacle" of which I am introduced to. 9 tracks ranging around 32:11; DISFUNERAL arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Death Metal developments.
Opening up with this majestic wave; this snarly riff within "Feastering The Undead" starts off the record with a gnarly abomination, contrasting a healthy dose of savagely sinister meatiness & swerving solos until this blistering, bombastic frenzy barrages eardrums into a boisterously bouncy berserker. A trembling reverb rumbles speakers with sonically seamless malice, rotting souls with decaying distortion and amplified adrenaline in which surges with volatile meatiness while monstrous calamity distils a flamboyant fabrication in wildly rushing mayhem. Razor-sharp tactics pummel persistently with vibrantly potent thuds & sturdy ramifications, bulldozing bodies into a bone crushing synergy of rapidly swift nimbleness, tight punchiness & weighty perseverance that unleashes sulphurous scours of riffing slays amongst a grinding onslaught of ruthless pandemonium within the striking pursuit of "Dissolved".
Consisting of Renaud Mann on vocals; the front man excels with OBITUARY-esque cords, as bellowing gutturals growl with roaring throatiness while raspy rage soars with primitively raw rage. "Eternal" bludgeons inner sanctums with throttling firepower expertise as Florian Drabant on the hammering drums batters his set with rambunctious yet stompy precision, smacking cymbals into a towering tremolo impact as crunchy crescendo effects impulses souls with relentless pounds & fierce furocity. A groove-bomb aesthetic within "Lord Of Discord" (not the social media platform) ultizes versatile vehemence on speedy, but demolishing momentum - rifting with strong virtuosity on quintessential stability, forging a solid slab of vicious velocities that stampede with rollicking & galloping intensity. An audible bass injection from Clément Favre also elements in an infectious but dense dynamic in dexterously flickering thumpiness, riveting with echoing contortion & monolithic tempo for good measure.
"Maim, Kill, Burn" is as it says within the title; which is a repugnant malformation of rampaging, maniacal hysteria & diabolical viscerality. Unearthing concretely gritty barbarism for all to strife to, unshackling wrathful aggression in a rampantly rompy swerve of extreme hardiness and vigorous rigour that rattles heads into the spectral ultimatum of mosh pit chaos. "Devourer Of Light" constructs more menacing magnitudes of motoring venom, as bitter hostility belts a clobbering distinction in distinguished meltdowns of ominously jarring clamour and devilment. Until the titular track descegrates acutely into a booming fabrication of snappy yet progressively technical trailblazing that skyrockets with mighty methods of radically yet but flexibly fundamental blitzkrieg.
The penultimate track "Dead" bludgeons heads into more uproarious melody; unravelling tenacious but doomy maelstrom rumpus that salubriously captivates a furore of malignance, madness and abominable transgression of inhuman bestiality amongst an immense enjoyability of ravenous but cavernous domination that will start your day in brutal succession. Overall concluding "Blood Red Tentacle" with the finale banger "Funeral Maze", a deadening entrance of mystical malevolence & hazy flair... I am compelled to say that DISFUNERAL most surely outdone themselves with this one, for a debut it serves the subgenre greatly and it is certainly worthy of spinning & replaying a good few times. Worthy of listening, as an entertaining discovery and experience of pure old school Death Metal bestiality awaits - do check it out.
