Disarmonia Mundi - Nebularium + The Restless Memoirs album cover

When I saw this beautiful double CD digipak package I was kind of intrigued, but after listening to both CD's several times I can't say that my initial enthusiasm was still there. I actually can't find a reason for such a band to re-release old stuff rather than prepare and release new material.

In a world full of re-releases, 'best of' compilations, live albums and EP's, DISARMONIA MUNDI, a band known for the participation of SOILWORK's singer Bjorn Strid, comes to add one more pointless if you ask me re-release. They were never so known or cult to find an actual reason to re-release their debut album. And what is the bonus here? Their latest EP which was released this year.

Their music is kind of weird, and not because it is so diverse it can't be described, but because they were never able to absorb their influences and create their own sound. Listening to the album and the EP you will come across tracks that have nothing in common. The band's European style melodic Death Metal turns into ROTTING CHRIST like melodic brutality and at times ends up into modern IN FLAMES tunes. I listened to the album many times in order to see if it was just hard for my ears to understand, I paid attention to every time I listened to it, but again I didn't find something so magnificently clever. Not that they are bad, they just need to work on finding their own sound. It is good to experiment between different kinds of music, but it is better to develop them and make them your own.

I would be more than happy to listen to a new release by them, but such a re-release won't do the work, at least for me. Don't' know, I seem kind of confused here...
