Now that's something different from the Greek metal scene. DIMANSION, a band that comes from Ptolemaida, starts their Metal journey with their debut Room One. Different, as I don't know many bands here in Greece that are trying to play melodic/symphonic Metal with female vocals, something that is quite successful in the rest of Europe already with bands like NIGHTWISH, EPICA or TRISTANIA. However, don't think that it is another clone of NIGHTWISH.
Hopefully DIMANSION don't want to get into another's band border but to create their own sound, mixing their symphonic Metal with a lot of different elements. So from the powerful Precious Image and Wolf's Eyes you can also find more progressive Metal tracks like Wholesome Arrival or Room One. Melodic and sentimental at Beautiful Heaven's Whispers and Far From Home but also more straight rocking at tracks like the video single Alive, which is also and the 'weaker' song of the album...My favourite is surely Ghost Story. Listen to it and see how beautifully the band arranged so many ideas in one track. That doesn't happen to all of the tracks and it's something the band should work in the future.
The soprano vocalist of the band, Chrissa Sidiropoulou, did a very good job, especially considering her young age; and of course, last but not least, Mr. Alex Makatselos for his insane drumming! Interesting lyrics, an indifferent inlay and artwork, but what really abuses the band's good ideas and abilities is the mediocre production. Especially the guitars should sound a lot heavier and powerful.
So, if we surpass the kind of usual problem with the production, this CD is worth your attention. I just hope the band won't be doomed by lack of...personal relationships...
