Black and death metal outfit DIKASTERION are from the country of Belgium and they are a four man band, as they have a vocalist/guitarist DEATH COMMANDER and HANGHADIEF, as they are also accompanied by bassist CINIS and finally their drummer is PZ. KPFW. Both HANGHADIEF and PZ. KPFW were also in a band together before and PZ. KPFW also has a wealth of experience from previous bands including EFFROI, GOUFFRE, HEINOUS, POSSESSION and TERRIFIANT. This Belgian black/death metal band have been on the go from 2018, as they released an advanced version of a demo that same year in cassette and then they released an EP titled STAVELOT 1597/ROME 897 in 2019.

Now the four man band have another EP released very soon now as we approach September, the EP itself is titled CHAOS AS A NEW WORLD in which we have a total of seven tracks so much more to listen to than in their previous releases. So without delay let's head into the new EP starting with the first track which is "Intro" as we hear dismay and discord with blasts and explosions in the distance as this is a short introduction to the EP so we can now go on into the next track. "Perdition's Call" starts with guitar riffs jumping about and then drums also with bass guitar accompanying as well as vocals which bring out the death metal side to this track. There is so much fire and jealous rage from the vocals as they are obscene, as the track progresses, we do hear a short instrumental section with guitars and drums leading the way.

There is not much more that is different in the rest of the second track so we must press on and here comes to the third track which is "New World Disorder" as all elements are at play here contributing their every effort into creating the black metal cluster of noise. Guitar and drums take the lead in the next section as vocals follow under orders from the guitar or drums, so a very interesting part, before we get another instrumental section but cut short by vocals. A quick crescendo by drums and guitars encourages the vocals to spit those words of oppression and satanic means of speaking,  Drums become more flexible and they are driving the guitars to the point of breaking but guitars don't falter in any way, so we can now move steadily into the next track of this EP. "Armies Of The Night" is up next with high end guitar vibrato to begin with as the other elements are conjured up by guitars.

Drums are more versatile as they differentiate from their usual way of playing, as they have more of a say in the direction of this track with dynamics playing a bigger role this time around. We hear haunting and disturbing soundscapes of the more paranormal nature but nonetheless guitars steal the spotlight once more from the other instruments, as vocals attempt to disrupt the frenzy of fire power the guitars have. A very cool and instrumental closing section as we head into the next track which is "Across The Line" as drums flow the next track with guitars creating the rhythmic riffs that guide the track along the way. The drums are certainly riveting and the momentum exists in both drums and guitars as vocals is very much the icing on top of the mixture of black/death metal that this track has visioned.

The track starts to pick up the pace as the drums take the narrative as guitars also join in with very well played melodic riffs but still have the darkness of how black metal should sound so very well thought of indeed. It is safe to say there is no doubt that the tension and atmosphere is conjured up in every way possible so we can now move on into the next track which is "Rites Of Conviction". Lead guitars and drums end the previous track on a high, so the sixth track comes at the expense of lead guitar riffs that shine through, with rumbling drums as the vocals are deadly as ever going in for the kill with conviction and creativity as the track has some rebellious streaks of dangerous damnation.

There is a lot mid range audio quality as guitar provides this, but the high end as well with lead guitar and drums giving that touch of the higher reaches into the audio spectrum, as drums do well also to carry on the adventure and theatrics, so now into the final track which is "Death's Serenade". An interesting intro of slow guitar and maybe an old traditional instrument but not for long as the vocals and other elements come together, not as fast but still remain in the way they have done so throughout this album. Vocals are more settled not as attacking but melodic on this occasion, as we continue to hear the instrumental sound we heard at the intro of this final track now we go into a more collective sound, before a short vocal solo.

Guitars and drums do well to fit into the space in between where vocals do allow them in to create the balance between the melodic and more cunning aspects of what the band can present to the listener. So this does bring the album to a close, with a dip and gradual diminuendo as we hear vocal gasps as well as organ, overall it is a very interesting mixture of melodic and more mesmerizing black metal with some death metal twists and turns. A great listen and well I would certainly like to hear more of the melodic side of the next release but the black metal feel works very well in this album.
