DIAMOND NOIR is a female fronted, Industrial Metal with Pop echoes band from Melbourne in Australia formed in May 2013 by guitarist Howard 'Howsie' Noise and burgeoning vocalist/bassist Billie-Jade. In the studio, they are with ex-MACHINE HEAD and SOULFLY guitarist, Logan Mader, as a producer. Their debut EP was released in July 2014.
I like so much the title track "Monsters", which has mega power and melodic female singing with pulsating drums and stronger guitars. Industrial style gives energy to this song with little Pop echoes. "Always the Villain" is opening by drums in GODSMACK style and KORN crazy groovy guitars. A very nice track with echoes of NINE INCH NAILS and JANIS JOPLIN influences in singing and KORN influences. The opener "Insomniac", with gentle piano and heavy riffs with electronics, is a total mix and totally different than "Taste Me", where the energy is perfectly mixed with electronic and pop sounding drums, which gave a catchy chorus. A nice change of climate in "Undermind", opens with screaming and KORN echoes. Here is a mix of industrial metal with melody and fantastic strong vocals with a commercial vibe. "The Hollow", from the first sounds, is familiar like a great ballad with melodic guitars, high climate in refrain, electronic and strong vocal!
DIAMOND NOIR follows their passion and has recorded an EP full of well-known bands as inspirations like MARYLIN MANSON, RAMMSTEIN or FEAR FACTORY. Their EP for me shows that this band has potential on the metal scene; they are a new era of female fronted heavy music with their pop/metal infusion. I hope that on their new full-length album this band will show to fans, another fantastic connection of different styles.<
