Based in Mumbai, Demonstealer is the front man of DEMONIC RESSURECTION and WORKSHOP, yet he finds the time to do this side project under his own name. "The Holocene Termination" is his second ep, and he has enlisted the services of some of the very best extreme musicians in order to help bring this ep to life. The four tracks are a wonderful mix of blackened death metal, progressive death metal, and melodic death metal, and each one is a display of incredible musicianship.

Contained within are also elements of Technical Death Metal in the vein of ALLEGAEON and INFERI, which is most noticeable in the bass guitar playing, and the sporadic use of cleaner vocals. In other words, if you like any kind of extreme music, then you will find a lot to love here.

Of the four tracks, I prefer the first and fourth the most, "The Holocene Termination" and "What She Creates, She Will Destroy" respectively.

"The Holocene Termination" begins by taking a slower Black Metal feel before dropping into more of a Death Metal vibe, but the entire track has an undertone of that blackened death sound. The guitar solo has a Progressive Metal bend, while the backing music reminds me of NEVERMORE a bit. Add in the variety of vocal styles, and you have a great extreme metal track!

"What She Creates, She Will Destroy" charges out of the gate with fiery tempos, and supreme heaviness, a heaviness that comes in direct contrast to the gorgeous vocals of Veronica Bordacchini, whose talents are usually heard with Italian extreme metallers, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE. Her work here is beautiful, and it adds something unique to this already amazing track, bringing in an almost operatic sensibility in some sections.

The Holocene Termination is 4 songs of quality blackened death metal, and I think that fans of the genre will absolutely love it. Demonstealer is able to showcase his incredible talents with this project, from songwriting to the final protect, he searches for, and gets, the perfect parts and performances to complete his vision. You should definitely take the time to give this a listen!!
