Forged In Hatred

Deathraiser

“Forged In Hatred” celebrates classical Thrash Metal with plenty of late 80s vibes, pace, aggression, dark melodies, and cool solos. It is a 35 minutes of pure mayhem and destruction

DEATHRAISER were formed in 2009 and they are from Brazil. The Thrash Metal outfit released their sophomore album "Forged In Hatred" almost 15 years after their debut album. It has a length of about 34 minutes, and it was released via Spanish label Xtreem Music, which has many Death, Thrash, and Black Metal bands among their current roster. The album starts with a short and grim intro, leading into the track "Severe Atrocity", which is fast traditional Thrash Metal with tight guitar riffing. The vocals are harsh and vary between the medium to higher end of the guttural range. While verse and chorus parts are fast, the break goes back to mid-tempo during the first part with powerful guitar riffing accompanied by the double-bass drumming. The second part of the break switches to insane pace and introduces the short but contributing lead guitar solo. "Primitive Medicine" continues with the pace and the riffing of the opening track. The basslines are crushing and the vocals hardly offer any tonal shifts. The guitar riffing of both "Severe Atrocity" and "Primitive Medicine" remind on the early Thrash Metal phase of SEPULTURA. The break is two-parted: introduced with an extended lead guitar solo at insane pace, the second part includes powerful guitar riffs and the vocals at mid-tempo.

"Primitive Medicine" was released as video, and the YouTube link is provided below. "Everything Dies" starts with an extended guitar intro at a measured tempo. The guitar riffs are accompanied by crunching basslines. The guitar riffs are very powerful. After the first verse part, there is a switch to a crazy pace with tight guitar riffing. The break is a mixture of both mid-tempo and blistering pace with the lead guitar solo contributing to both parts of the break. The melodies are spine-chilling throughout the track. "Everything Dies" sounds a bit unfinished though as it slowly fades out. "Corporation Parasite" starts with a short guitar part at mid-tempo and introduces then the main riff of the track at fast pace. The guitar riffing is direct and aggressive. The verse parts, bridge, and chorus parts are all played at the same pace and rhythm with a short and very simple chorus part. The break introduces some switches between mid-tempo and fast pace with the focus on the ultimate highlight being the extended lead guitar solo. After the break, the track circles back to another verse/bridge/chorus sequence. "Empire Of Ignorance" continues with the frantic Thrash Metal attack. The guitar riffs are tight and aggressive and the basslines are crushing. While the verse parts are played at crazy pace, the choruses abruptly switch to a measured tempo with thunderous guitar riffs. The break is a highly paced affair with another contributing lead guitar solo at its center. "Symphony Of Violence" is an instrumental track at a measured tempo and a head-banging rhythm during the first half of the track. The guitar riffing is thunderous and the melodies are dark. The break switches to a fast tempo for a short lead guitar solo.

"Toxic Legacy" returns to the fast and relentless Thrash assault at insane pace. The guitar riffing is simple, direct, and aggressive. While verse and chorus parts are played at the same tempo, the break introduces switches. The contributing lead guitar solo is a fast one, but afterwards there is an abrupt change to a measured tempo with powerful riffs. However, it does not take long, and the track goes back to another frantic verse/chorus part. The beginning of "One Step To The Grave" delivers spine-chilling melodies at measured tempo. The switch is drastic, as it all develops into the fastest album track during the verse/chorus parts. The track is pure insanity, even if the very short break slows down. The album finishes with "Dead Generation" and it starts as mid-tempo song during the verse part. The tempo switch is abrupt and is introduced by a short lead guitar solo. The fast part lasts during the extended break with one more solo included. The song finishes with another mid-tempo chorus.

DEATHRAISER deliver a good traditional Thrash Metal album. "Forged In Hatred" celebrates classical Thrash Metal with plenty of late 80s vibes, pace, aggression, dark melodies, and cool solos. Purists may criticize that there is little versatility as most tracks sound very similar, however, I personally like these 35 minutes of pure mayhem and destruction. The album is well produced. Thrash Metal fans will be reminded on the golden age of Thrash Metal when listening to "Forged In Hatred" and I will listen to it once again right now.
