Let's say you are looking for a French band with a heavy Rock 'n Roll sound. If you just happened to come across DEAD SEASON, you'd probably be pretty happy.
Their latest album release, "Dusting the Rust" is a great mix of sounds ranging from Heavy and Stoner Metal to Melodic Rock, building to the instrumental, epic title track. They incorporate with ease, any number of techniques, bringing a very MASTODON feel to the music on the aforementioned album.
Let me elaborate a little. There are both "clean" and "dirty" vocals on most of the songs and both types fit very well to their respective places when each is used. The guitar progressions are very connected and well executed and the percussion section completes the instrumentation while complimenting the momentum throughout the album.
For a little fun, in the bonus track, "Zombies are Swinging", they added the jazzy sounds of the Simon Fache Big Backing Band. Keeping with the heaviness while using the voices of several growling zombies with a horn section playing in the background creates a comical feel to the song, and I found it very entertaining.
Listeners to this album will be pleasantly surprised and the bonus track lives up to its name. Overall, a very solid product with current fans sure to enjoy this and new fans to be made!<
