Dave Martone - When the Aliens Come album cover

Well well well! What do we have here? If you believed that Canadian rock or metal  has to deal with bands like  ANNIHILATOR ,  RUSH, and  TRIUMPH, you may have to reconsider. Canadian guitar shredder,  DAVE MARTONE  may have something more to say about that. As Dave himself comments,  The main concept of the album is trying to envision what music of the future might be. Trying to imagine that I could hop in some alien space ship 400 years from now and see what was playing on their I-pod equivalent!
If you try to describe this piece of music presented here you may say that it is guitar based rock music but - it is mostly based on a techno rock basis - in other words you can always here a background of let's say computer or artificially produced notes. You may find these stuff quite cool but I would rather prefer the traditional rock approach.
I really have mixed emotions about this one. On the one hand his work is quite innovative and impressive but on the whle I do not think that it manages to produce a truly creative effect. This is quite new approach to an area where father  JOE  and uncle  STEVE  simply dominate! But JOE  SATRIANI  has already covered that area by his work on Engines Of Creation. What more can I say? Maybe you should enter at your own risk. There are many good times at this album but the production and overall approach does not really make up to me.
This album was recorded, produced and Mixed at Brainworks Studio Vancouver Canada   by  DAVE MARTONE. Highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones:  The Four Horsemen ,  Really Now! ,  O My God I'm Swelling!   and  When the Aliens Come .
