I'm still a little puzzled by this release, the band hold a strong potential but the personality of this German outfit is schizophrenic or unstable at best, this ever changing twisted mood in the style is questioning, because it's a blessing and a curse in the same time, from one track to the other they could change the whole game. Indeed, with a track like "Out Of Time" you could swear listening to modern SOILWORK but the song "Nero" sounds like an heaviest SIMPLE MINDS, the following cut it's like MUSE, then the next one sounds like AMORPHIS then again the pace is different again with "Fight!", you could think about LINKIN PARK and so on with HIM or contemporary DARK TRANQUILLITY.

This band is composed by experienced musicians and they already have a long career behind them, nearly 20 years, their third release "The Silent Republic" was a good album back in 2002 and it was their big success break out. So I believe that this metamorphosis it's not a fluke, they surely needed to try to improve their style for a new departure towards something more Poppy or more Gothic, they had soften their Metal consciously with electronic soundscapes and New-Wave flavors, I think that it started around 2008, but it doesn't mean that they are on a wrong way, but I feel that the early fan-base must be shocked and even disillusioned by such evolution.

Even if the development path itself was progressive now they sounds miles and miles away from their initial style in DYER'S EVE, in fact with a track such as "Don't Let The Devil Get Me" reveals a new knack for a Dark Neo-Prog which is encouraging, but the main problem is, could they be able to choose in between all those genre for the next album in order to give a cohesive release instead of such a patchwork, maybe I'm wrong maybe their versatility is their strongest force and their most interesting element, I really don't know, I'm still puzzled.
