Cynic - Re-Traced album cover

New EP from CYNIC? I didn't see that coming! I didn't even have a clue that the US metallers (?) were about to release a brand new EP! Anyway, I am really curious to see what's in here...

Oh, that's it? I was expecting more I have to admit. "Re-Traced" is just about four remakes of songs from the band's last album "Traced In Air", a previously unreleased track ("Wheels Within Wheels"). These remakes sound something like a mixture between RIVERSIDEand the acoustic version of OPETH with some Post Indie Rock elements. Not that it is bad, I kind of enjoyed listening to it, but I can't see the reason why CYNIC had to release this EP instead of preparing and releasing a new full-length album. Yeah, die hard fans of the band may die to lay their hands on this release, but I don't think the rest of you will find something so interesting that will make your money worth.

Not much things to say about this "trippy" Rock EP. As I said above, it is only for the passionate fans of the band. I'll just put it aside and wait for a full-length album.

"Re-Traced" Track-listing:

  3. King
  4. Integral
  5. Wheels Within Wheels
Cynic Lineup:

Paul Masvidal - Vocals, Guitar
