Crown Of Worms - Sorcery Rites album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: CROWN OF WORMS; signed via Super Sargasso Music, hailing from Peruian grounds - performing Blackened Thrash Metal, on their sophomoric full-length album entitled: "Sorcery Rites" (released March 25th, 2022). Since formation in 2002 until 2008; resurging in 2016, the quartet in question have 2 splits entitled: "Glamripper / Dead Stars" (released May 2004) & "We Are Spoiled Rockers Vol. I" (released December 25th, 2015). 3 demos entitled: "Promo Reh. 2005" (released April 21st, 2005), "Serpents And Horns" (released 2006), "Cult Of Darkness" (released August 28th, 2020), a compilation entitled: "Shadows Of Past Wars 2002 - 2008" (released in 2010), a live album entitled: "Live In Callao" (released October 5th, 2016) & 2 full-length studio albums entitled: "Impalers March" (released December 26th, 2019) as well as this here 2nd offering of which I am introduced to. 6 tracks ranging around 40:38; CROWN OF WORMS arrange an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Blackened Thrash Metal developments.

Opening up with this blistering array of riffing majesty; "The Reaper's Scorn" starts off the record with ripping shreds from electric guitarist Bloodless, until then... this symbolic scouring revels with riveting remedies of oppressive bounciness. Boisterously clobbering a barrage frenzy on razor-sharp snarls & primitively raw mayhem, this vibrantly potent tremble rumbles with reverberating malice unleashing a bombarding heft on wildly rushing snares, as an abominable crunch crafts a creatively concrete distilment on rapidly swift nimbleness and catchy dexterity. A bulldozing artillery unearths trailblazing tempos, volatile meatiness & monstrously piledriving audibility from bass flickerer Evil Butcher amongst a chiseling slab of solidly rambunctious stompiness from hammering drummer Void. Both inject an infectiously dynamic versatility on vehement thumpiness that showcases steely precision and killer slams of slaying grinds, frolicking into a galloping mass of bludgeoning extremity.

"Obsessed By Ancient Spells" rifts with sonically seamless stability; synergising with monolithic speed, fierce firepower expertise and sulfurous yet salubrious manifestations of weighty tightness which forges a borderline foundation on punchline grooves amongst a gnarly attribute in profusely robust pandemonium that will make you want to break chairs over other chairs in no time. Inhuman on vocals surges with throaty raspiness which grovels intensely with shouty yells, barking bellows and bleeding gutturals that roar with soaring growls immensely. This vicious intent ensures a flexible fundamental subjugation of wickedness & radical proportion, tremoring quavers quake with impactful impulse & steamrolling finesse as flamboyant rompiness rampantly belts a thrashy momentum of spectral maelstrom tactics on a concretely gritty scale.

"Angelrust" captivates a blackened furocity, where those striking pursuits of dark harmonies rev up with piercing onslaught. Nothing but chaotic havoc slams with zealous experimentations in hybrid shrieks, throttling barbarity and berserking swerves of strident strifing that thuds out sturdy stampedes of rampaging madness. Ramifying with technical upheaval, this quartet of towering wrath systematically rushes with scattering smacks and lacerating hooks that materialize with distorted agility. "Under Blackened Wings" morphs with more sweeping maliciousness, trampling souls with vicious mobility & ruthless empowerments in evil pomposity. Where this bestial invasion in clamouring forcefield of ominiously jarring blitzkreig blusters eardrums with visceral uproar and disorder, as a distinctively distinguished conundrum of ritualistic satanism overarchs with blasting beats amongst an exhilarating exercise in maniacal rage to start your day off rightly with.

The penultimate titular track transforms with malformity and face-melting warfare, where this nuclear noise terror spellbinds speakers with hellish calamity and demented but diabolical headiness. An insane resolve possesses motoring characteristics in anarchy and descegration, destroying unexpected newcomers with savagely sinister brutality. A groove-bomb melody perseveres with persistent cords and slanderous malignance where this vindictive virulence introduces a discordant beginning with the finale banger "Ageless Dread" until more sanguinery forges a grim but listenable experience in enjoyably entertaining hullabaloo that will make you want more with each and every spin. Overall; I am compelled to say that CROWN OF WORMS most surely outdone themselves with "Sorcery Rites", this sacrilege of remorseless and bloodthirsty furore tempestuously uproars with prodigiously demonic atrocities of morbid visions that makes this record worthy of replaying a good few. A discovery to keep note of should you fancy a fix of this subgenre in place that does it supreme justice immensely, do check it out.
