Creatures formed in Curitiba in 2019, standing out in Brazil's extreme metal–dominated scene by championing traditional heavy metal alongside peers like Trovão. After releasing singles, they debuted in 2021 on Iron OxideRecords. Their follow-up, "Creatures II", arrives via High Roller Records, recorded between September 2024 and March 2025 at Heavy Tron Studio with Arthur Migotto. Produced by Migotto and guitarist Mateus Cantaleano, who also wrote all music and lyrics, the album features Marc Brito (vocals), Mateus Cantaleano (guitar), Ricke Nunes (bass) and Sidnei Dubiella (drums), plus guests Caio Vidal and Migotto. "Creatures II" is darker and heavier than its predecessor, it blends heavy metal and hard rock with dynamic riffs, harmonies and power ballads.
The opening of this album starts with atmospheric intrigue, the soaring guitar solo builds which builds the anticipation, the drum beats kick in to the instrumental "Inferno" before kicking into "Devil In Disguise" a mid temp track which is both heavy and melodic, with some crunchy guitar riffs and high range vocals full of passion with the catchy chorus the chanting backing vocals add more fire. There is a Maiden/Priest feel to "Night Of The Ritual" for me,the galloping melodies, the guitar solo, the vocals, sounding nostalgic thanks to the production,it is a track paying homage to the greats, done very well which live everyone will sing a long to,which is also the feeling i got with "Beware The Creatures" the vocals Marc Brito delivers, in places remind me of Rob Halford, with some excellent guitar work from Mateus Cantaleäno with the rhythm, also the great solo work."Dreams" from the start draws you in with the guitar riffs, with some key touches,Rick Nunes & Sidnei Dubiella sound very tight together on the bass and drums, which along with another great vocal deliver a song full of heart & soul with a more melodic feel.Already pumping this album out loud "Queen Of Death" is one of those tracks that you have to turn up more! With more great bass, drums and guitar work, superb harmonies in the chorus, the vocals again solid,
"Pure Madness" starts with a rockier edge, more of a mid tempo, more 80's MTV,with the sing a long woah, woahs, a very solid no frills track."Danger" rocks attitude within the vocals, which has an atmospheric acoustic part, before things are turned up a notch by more superb guitars which ignite the track towards a solid ending."Nothing Lasts Forever" with an intricate. delicate acoustic start ,before it kicks in with energetic electric rhythms with a smooth chorus,,definite feel of the eighties, which made me think of bands such as Dokken,Black N' Blue and Leatherwolf one of the best tracks on the album for me."Path Of The Night" is a spooky, eerie track which is very much a halloween/horror film soundtrack themed with dark rhythm with some eerie whispered vocals in parts. The album contains an extended version of "Beware The Creatures",before ending with the bonus track "Perfect Illusion" with a melodic synth lead in before been brought to life with some more rocking rhythms which transports me back to my youth! "Creatures II " is a classic, nostalgic metal album from start to finish brought to life with a fresh approach and vision. Marc Brito delivers a solid vocal performance with some blazing guitar work from Mateus Cantaleäno ,with exceptional tight rhythm work. The production is spot on the right depth, warmth which allows Creatures to shine musically. An album which overall is a very enjoyable listen for any Heavy Metal fan.
