Hunger
Coma7
COMA7 is a Post-Hardcore/Groove/Alternative band based out of Tel Aviv, Israel. This is the band's debut EP and contains three tracks.
"No More War" is the opening track. Following some opening spoken words, the main riff rolls in hard. Joining drum and bass and some background ambiance, the sound is energetic and bossy. When the vocals enter you definitely get the sense of an Alternative Rock/Metal type of sound. In Hardcore fashion however, the vocals are mostly shouted. Correct me if I am wrong, but I hear a RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE vibe with this track. It could be mostly due to the vocal style and range but even the music seems consistent with that band's style.
"One Day as a Slave" has a slower and more deliberate sound with a low end riff and a punchy approach. This mid-tempo number is where I pick up on a more Groove oriented rhythm. They also do a nice job with the chorus and some varied guitar techniques. It's the type of song that can serve as an anthem for the EP, making you want to join in their cause and pump your hands in the air. "Yeti" is the final track. There is a cautious entrance via bass guitar and a bit of a darker feeling than in previous tracks. The dissonant guitar parts and minor chord progressions definitely contribute to this feeling.
Besides the energy present you can pick up on a lot more angst here. Overall I feel this is a promising young EP from the band and I would look forward to hearing future releases.
