From their EPK, "One amongst millions, one single burning star in the heavens, one light in the pantheon of evolution; yet one with a need to outstrip and outshine. A designated place within a web of life would never be enough for this flawed creation, infected with arrogance and delusion, the drive to survive growing and mutating into a lust for domination and destruction. All must be diminished in its gaze; all must enhance the existence of the one or forfeit their right to live. Each light of life flickers out - extinguished, consumed, by that insatiable alien hunger - until only the Morningstar remains, cold and alone, in the empty, endless night." The album has eight songs.

"A Crimson Planet" is the first. Tones are tense and dissonant in this short intro. The title track moves with slow guitars, thick and fuzzy low bass notes, and some rolling drums. The vocals are a combination of gutturals, some screams and whispers. The music is agonizingly dissonant. "Rumination" is another short song, with heavy bass notes and more guitar dissonance. Pig squeals are added for effect. The chaotic structure of the album is starting to take form. "Destined in Passing" is a loosely structures sound with plenty of backing elements that don't necessarily make a lot of sense. Although the song is weighted, barren, and frigid, I am not sure what to say beyond these things.

"Ambiguity" is a third short song with a bit more straightforward sound. The meter changes are hard to keep up with, but in the end, do they make a cohesive sound? At this point in the album, that seems to be a moot point. "Sombre Manifestation" begins with more heavy bass notes and dissonant guitar work. It chugs and chugs, like the engine of a large truck trying to kick over in the freezing cold. Vocals roll in and the sound becomes darker and darker, barely escaping from its prison chains. Forget about anything common, as the song doesn't follow convention. "Projection" is a surprise. Clean tones are present in the opening, and dare I add, a little hope? From there however, hopes are dashed quickly and completely, and all that remains are your fears and darker thoughts that you dare not whisper aloud. The song grows increasingly tense.

"Eulogy" closes the album, another very dark affair. The sounds in this instrumental sound like decay and death personified. In keeping with the themes on the album, the sound is very nihilistic and empty. Experimental? Absolutely. As a reviewer, I can appreciate the willingness to be adventurous. The songs do not follow a linear path at all. The seem to cue on the dark side of human existence, and all the things that you feel that you don't talk about at cocktail parties. In fact, they are even too dangerous to detail in the review. If nothing else, it put a black stain on my soul that will never rub off.
