CIRCUITRY's debut album that was released on November 4th is one of the most interesting releases of this year. It's an album that can definitely blend and yet stand out in the contemporary wave of Progressive Metal. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, it takes a more than a few listens to really start to grasp the intricateness of the work and really see it for what it is. This album takes patience, CIRCUITRY have mentioned in a number of interviews that they've spent a whole year recording and mixing this album in order to get the ideal result. Those efforts definitely paid off.

What really knocks your socks off is the chemistry and how it all fuses so together well. You can really hear it from the first track and see it grow as the album goes, how everything is in its place, a well oiled machine. All roles have their own time to shine and no-one is left behind; the drums, the deep cutting guitar work and the dynamic vocals. It's really the chemistry between all the roles that makes this piece what it is. It'd be really interesting to see it being pulled off in a live setting.

You can hear so many different influences. While the first tracks are solid Progressive Metal material, in the likes of Devin Townsend, in other tracks you can hear Joel Monet's vocals pulling out accurate Phil Anselmo-like roars. The guitar work is completely outstanding, both rhythmically and the way it blends with the raging beat of the drums, and melodically on its own. The production is on this one is really the edge of the knife. Smart and careful layering. Yet these guys don't let go on the lyrics. There's story-telling - consistent and logical.

Tracks that really stand out are the opening track "The One Who Knocks", "The Monster In Her Womb", "Horizon" and "Perfect Vision". "Horizon" is really a great display of the amazing spectrum this group reaches, while "Perfect  Vision" is an extension of that.

While you've probably haven't heard about Circuitry before, this isn't an amateur Prog release. This is a full blown Progressive release, contains lots of adrenaline and a great amount of varied technical skill in every single song. With that being said, it might not be an easy release for the more old-school guys, but it is definitely worth the listen.
