Cemetery Lust - Orgies Of Abomination album cover

The brutal blaspheming beast from Portland has returned, this time with their second full length album "Orgies of Abomination" which is most certainly going to be turning some heads, as well as stomachs! With the end game mindset of claiming the title of being the most offensive, foul minded, gut grinding, sadistic group of twisted bastards ever to set their blood drenched feet on the death-thrash scene, it's no wonder that at first glance I see track titles such as: "Bloody Whore Bath", "Malefic Masturbation", "Cum on the Cross", and "Intent to Molest".

The first track "Inhumane Indulgence" is introduced with an eerie keyboard melody, soon a deep, darkly distorted voice joins in the foreground, muttering words of disgust and abomination. In the background, a guitar starts screaming as it has it's whammy bar brutally molested, this slowly fades out and so begins the madness as the next track "Mass Grave Orgy" starts. Staying true to their genre of Snuff-metal, which incorporates elements of Blackened Death and Thrash, CEMETERY LUST bursts forth into a sludgy march, which quickly builds momentum, and suddenly, you realise that behind these vile song titles and spoken atrocities, there actually lies a pretty damn decent band! Within seconds I found myself nodding my head along in approval, only trying to imagine the immense energy that would be felt at a live show.

At times I could hear heavy influences of SEPULTURA, SODOM, and KREATOR, all well blended in with elements of Death and even Punk, and I think this is the recipe that gives CEMETERY LUST their powerful drive that keeps so much energy in their music. The general sound of the album remains rather repetitive though, just switching between classic thrashy guitar, drum, and vocal styles, and occasionally adding in influences of Death Metal on the guitars. However this monotony is broken up a bit with the two tracks "Devils Grave Disturbance" and "Intent to Molest". Both tracks clocking in at under two minutes each, they seem to be more raw and intense than the rest, which I found quite refreshing.

"Orgies Of Abomination" is a good album, with a well structured track listing, and even an effective intro. Unfortunately though, the lack of diversity in the majority of the tracks is a bit of a letdown.
