Captain Black Beard are back with their seventh studio album “Chasing Danger”. Their last album “Neon Sunrise” was released in 2022.In late 2023 the band found themselves without a singer as Martin Holsner decided to quit the band to spend more time with his family. The band have gone through a lot of personnel changes over the years and quitting was not in their DNA. Singer Fredrik Vahlgren caught the attention of bass player and founding member Robert Majd ,after hearing his voice he just knew he was the right fit. In 2024 with no live dates for the first time in their 15 years the band spent most of the year perfecting & fully focusing on the new album, which also includes some co-writes with friends H.E.A.T., Night Flight Orchestra and Eric Modin of Wildness.

“Chasing Danger” starts with “Dreams” a track which has a flurry of cool synth melodies intertwined with some cool guitar riffs, which bring the song alive which pops with the catchy chorus. ”When It's Over” the first single has a catchy guitar intro draws you in from the beginning, a great anthemic chorus, the inclusion of some sax gives it flair & sophistication, a cool AOR/Melodic track. Fredrik Vahlgren delivers a powerful vocal ,a message within the lyrics of “Chasing Rainbows” a great track with the message of positivity, a powerful feel good chorus ,great melody ,guitars, hooks & anthemic. ”Shine” is melodic, fast paced with lots of synths with a disco vibe. ”AI Lover” the second single again has great melody, plenty of lush guitar riffs & keys, cool guitar solo. ”Can't See You” has heavier guitars, the prominent keys keeping the track melodic, solid vocal delivery from Fredrik Vahlgren, backed with some great harmonies. ”Read Your Mind “ & “Where Do We Go” are two great AOR/Melodic tracks full of great melody ,exquisite key work, vocals, groove & rhythm “Piece Of Paradise” a co write with John Lönnmyr of NFO which is a key lead ballad ,full of powerful emotional vocals, breaking powerfully in the chorus which soars, harmonies are great. ”In Your Arms” is a great way to end the album on a high heavier guitars, drums, an edgy guitar solo with a powerful end to this album.

Another great Swedish group ,which they are plenty deliver a great offering for 2025.”Chasing Danger” continues Captain Black Beard's melodic legacy. With new vocalist Fredrik Vahlgren that unique musical style will carry on. An album of 10 tracks full of AOR/Melodic melody, at times a touch of flamboyance thrown in for good measure, with great production. I absolutely loved this record excellent return for a superb band.
