In Your Blood
Cadaveria

I was sure I knew this band. The name CADAVERIA surely reminds me of something (no, I did not confused it with the Death Metal band CADAVER). I think I have listened to one album from this band in the past. It was Far Away From Conformity if I am not mistaken. Yeah, this must be that band with a woman doing the vocals.
It seems I was right. CADAVERIA is that band with the woman behind the microphone. The band hails from Italy and features members from the well-known Italian Black/Thrash metallers NECRODEATH (I love this band!). The band released its debut album The Shadows' Madame in 2002 through Scarlet Records (they had previously released a VHS with live videos, backstage stuff etc). After one more album in 2004 (Far Away From Conformity), the band signed with Season Of Mist (I admit this was not something I expected) and now releases its third full-length effort.
I still can't understand why did Season Of Mist sign such a band. I mean its roster contains incredible Black Metal bands, some good Industrial acts but... CADAVERIA? You will be wondering what is that this band plays and I speak about their signing with Season Of Mist. They wish they knew! Maybe even the band's members don't know what they play. It is a mix of every Metal style. From Nu Metal and theatrical depressive Black Metal stuff to Power Metal and Gothic/Doom elements! Some people may think that such a mixture may be incredible, but some may believe that it will be a pretty tiring album to listen to. I have to agree with the second category. When a musician wants to make something different, he/she should be able to do it or else he just sticks to a genre that already exists.
In Your Blood is an album without personality and sounds more like a collection that contains several bands. CADAVERIA haven't managed to find their identity as a band and this is more than obvious in this work. They seem unable to take so different styles and make them their own. To cut a long story short I am going to get straight to the point. This band never managed to attract my attention and probably never will. The singer is nothing more than a Gossow meets Scabbia wannabe. Finally, the production reaches the level of a well-produced demo and nothing more (the snare is really annoying).
If you want to buy this album or not, it is totally your choice. As for me, I definitely wouldn't buy such a release. In my humble opinion, Season Of Mist made a terrible mistake signing this band. I wonder why do John and Flegias spend time for CADAVERIA. NECRODEATH seem more than enough for me!
