BOUND TO PREVAIL hailing from Malta were formed in 2014. The Death Metal band released one EP so far. Their debut full-length album "Enthroned In Torment" was recorded, mixed, and mastered at SpineSplitter Studio in Malta. It has a length of about 39 minutes, and it was released via Italian Death Metal and Grindcore specialists Lethal Scissor Records. The album has a powerful start with thunderous guitar riffing supported by the blast-beats to introduce "The Nevergod". The track is a mixture of fast, mid-tempo, and measured tempo parts. The verse parts are those at a measured tempo, where the riffing is accompanied by the double-bass. The vocals are growls varying between the deep to medium end of the guttural range with a few higher pitched screams. The guitar riffing is very direct and aggressive at times, in particular during the fast parts with the blast-beats. The track finishes with a breakdown at the end. "Into The Depths" has a frantic start with the short blast-beat attacks. After the opening, the track transitions into a measured tempo for the verse parts. The melodies are spine-chilling and the guitar riffing is devastating. There are plenty of tempo and rhythm changes across the whole spectrum, and during the faster parts, the vocals add a lot of higher pitched screams. The break offers a few more atmospheric patterns alongside screams coming out of the abyss. "Into The Depths" is an early album highlight.

"Defiler Of Empires" continues with the grim sound. The guitar riffing is orientally inspired at times. It is a mid-tempo track with a series of subtle changes in rhythm, driven by the relentless drumming, where the blast-beats often drive the track forward. The guitar riffing is simple, direct, and punishing. The vocals deliver once again growls across the whole guttural range. "Consecrated Perdition" has a start at blistering pace leading into the verse part. The guitar riffing is direct and powerful alongside crushing basslines. The vocals use a lot of higher pitched screams, while the drums deliver a blast-beat and double-bass thunderstorm. The short break offers the first lead guitar solo, and this has a few oriental vibes. "Consecrated Perdition" was uploaded on YouTube by the label, and the link is provided below. "Atone In Blasphemy" is introduced by an atmospheric, symphonic pre-lude, transitioning into punishing guitar riffs at a measured tempo for the verse part. The pre-lude delivers the main melody of the track. The pace of the track varies a lot, driven by drumming. The basslines are crunching and the vocals utilize once again most of the guttural range. The break starts with a switch to insane tempo with the riffing and the screams but slows then down for another short lead guitar solo. "Dawn Of Emptiness" has a fast start going straight into the verse part. It does not take long to introduce the first twist in tempo and rhythm, where the guitar riffs switch to become more thunderous and powerful. The melodies are spine-chilling. The middle part of the track offers a measured tempo, which is often accompanied by the double-bass. There is another lead guitar solo, and the melodic theme is once again orientally inspired.

"Tomb Of The Graveless" introduces a bit of a grim atmosphere at the start, leading into the verse part at measured tempo. The guitar riffing is powerful at this point. During the track, there are numerous twists in tempo and rhythm with direct and simple guitar riffing which includes a few Deathcore vibes at times. The vocals maintain the deeper-lying growls with a few screams for most of the time. The album finishes with the title track "Enthroned In Torment" and the track is introduced by an extended instrumental part driven by the guitars. There is a bit more complexity in the riffing, in particular at the beginning of the track, which includes a few progressive vibes. It is mainly a mid-tempo track, where the guitar riffing is often supported by the double-bass. There are twists and turns in tempo, with some short fast sequences being included. Altogether, the title track fits to the overall sound and is a good way to end the album.

BOUND TO PREVAIL deliver a decent and promising album. "Enthroned In Torment" is classical Death Metal with a few Deathcore vibes at times. The guitar riffing is direct and simple. Overall, the album offers little technicality with exception of the drums and the vocals. Both give the album an extra layer. The album production is raw. Fans of traditional Death Metal, who like it simple, aggressive, and spine-chilling will like the debut album of BOUND TO PREVAIL
