So... BODYFARM! Honestly I've been seeing their name around social media lately but have never heard them before, so when I was given the chance to review their newest installment, I jumped on the opportunity. Let's start with a little about me. I've never been an overly huge fan of the death metal sub genre. I'm a Thrash Metal enthusiast through and through. So you are probably thinking I'm the completely wrong person to be reviewing the new BODYFARM album. Well, this album has made a fan out of me! I could just say simply, "Buy This Album", but my editor tells me I need to write more. So come on folks, let's take a look.

 "Dreadlord". This is the title track and kicks the album off the way any good Metal album should start, a long, deep, war cry fit for the most brutalist of battlefields. Guitar work consists of deep, ascending tremolo picked riffs that take on a few different patterns through out mixed with corresponding leads. Very melodic, very demonic! Approximately half through the song, the tempo slows down to make way for an eerie interlude that will make the skin crawl on even the coldest of cadavers. Definitely a great ambassador to the rest of the album. "Rites of Damnation". Starting a song with a solo is like having a beer at breakfast. Why wait until the end of the day?! I like this whole track, but where they took it at two minutes in with a crushing power chord riff made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

 "Manhunt" did not disappoint either. Consisting of basically all elements I love about thrash, but still remaining true to Death Metal. This song has it all. Relentless riffs, crushing palm muted sections, a ripping solo where the Floyd makes a special guest appearance, followed by a groove riff that will make you want to put your moshing shoes on. "Woods Of Dismay". Another great song, killer riffs, head crushing drums, a solo outro. Simply, well put together. "We Sailed to Death". Much of the same on this one. Good riffs, very melodic. Its not my favorite song on the album, but a great song none the less. "The Horseman". Another good song but nothing really jumps out at me, except it ends a bit abrupt, which took me by surprise.

"Eternal". Now, this I loved. Only one minute and nineteen seconds long and completely instrumental, this song did surprise me however. Done with a classical acoustic, it has a very strong flamenco style to it and I absolutely love how it breaks up the album. Completely takes you by surprise. After a short acoustic intermission, they are right back at it with "Unholy Resurrection". Crushing your skull with a brutal battery of drums and axe work to suit. There's two spots in the song where it changes tone, hard to explain but I thoroughly enjoyed where they went with it. I guess you will just have to find out for yourself. Now let's skip ahead to my favor track on the album, "Undead War Machine".

I'm not an expert on all the different Metal genres there are out there now, honestly it makes my head spin. But if I was reviewing this song (I am reviewing this song), I'd say they are pulling inspiration from both the Death Metal genre as well as Thrash. Crushing palm muted section at about one minute 30 seconds followed by a thrash style riff that gives me that tingly adrenaline rushes up the back of my neck. My opinion, this album is pure mayhem. If you are an avid Death Metal advocate, I strongly recommend you grab yourself a copy. I'll be placing my order. I started this journey not knowing a thing about the band, and now I'm a fan. An absolutely brutal album from a very talented band. Well done BODYFARM.
