BLUTGOTT featuring Blood God

From the EPK pf this release: 'This BLUTGOTT album brings together the entire "Trinity of Blood Gods" - consisting of DEBAUCHERY, BLOOD GOD and BALGEROTH - under one name. The DEBAUCHERY (CD 2 - "Enemy Of Mankind") and BALGEROTH (CD 3 - "Der BLUTGOTT nagelt dich ans Kreuz") versions are re-releases from 2018, while the BLOOD GOD version (CD 1 - "Respawned In Heavy Metal") is a completely re-recorded interpretation of the songs, inspired by classic metal bands like JUDAS PRIEST, SAXON, IRON MAIDEN, MOTÖRHEAD and ACCEPT. As per artist's request, CD 2 and CD 3 are not available for review purposes.'
The BLUTGOTT Metal Universe is comprised of the three forementioned bands, and the way they differ is easy to distinguish. DEBAUCHERY plays Monster Metal, whereas BLOOD GOD is a pure Hard Rock & Heavy Metal effort. And to complete the circle, BALGEROTH do their country proud with their brand of German Metal. But hey, as you already know, we're only touching on BLOOD GOD and their latest effort called "Respawned In Heavy Metal". Seeing how I very positively reviewed the very AC/DC oriented BLOOD GOD/ DEBAUCHERY double album "Demons Of Rock 'N' Roll" last year, I am glad that I got the chance to do their newest offering.
Musically you cannot fault "Respawned In Heavy Metal", as it does what they say in the EPK. So, a lot less AC/DC, and more Classic Heavy Metal influences. I for one am all in favour of doing such a thing, especially when it is done in such a positive, inspirational way with the songs of a quality that surpasses my expectations time and time again. The sound is raw but clear, every tune is able to carry itself easily and the drove and force that comes out of my speakers is astounding.
Lyrically you can't escape the feeling that the guys of BLOOD GOD certainly love their Heavy Metal. They express their love in several songs, sometimes a little too often for my ears. But that is just me nitpicking. What I do have a slight problem with is the voice used on "Respawned In Heavy Metal". Bal-Gurrath sounds like a whingeing, whining, spoiled kid instead of a Heavy Metal singer. Only when he growls or uses his AC/DC-like voice, does he sound as Heavy as he should. But it is just a minor setback. The outstanding music more than makes up for it.
