After the release of two EP'S "Witch Spells" in 2022 and "Cursed Blade" in 2023. "Sage Savage (Curse Breaker,Bitter Velvet) releases his debut albumThe Fates Key”. Blades Edge is a one man band project which draws inspiration and influences from 80's Heavy Metal from bands & artists such as Iron Maiden,Ozzy Osbourne,Def Leppard,Ratt and Motley Crue.”The Fates Key which is described as a guitar shredding, vocal screaming frenzy nostalgia trip all the way back to 1985!

Orblight” is an intro into the “Fates Key” album narrated by a mysterious woman with eerie synth led music which leads into “Hollow Gratitudes” which is has upbeat and fast tempo, with touches of classic speed metal with a modern twist, which is certainly gets that neck and head going! “So Bright And Yearning” follows suit another track full of solid guitar riffs & guitar solos that has an early Crue sound raw and full of energy. Next up “Her Sacrifice” a fairly long power ballad style track but also has some more heavy moments with lots of instrumental parts. “A Beast Under The Moonlight” has a melodic guitar intro, before kicking in with some crunchy guitar riffs, the tempo has slow moments mixed with faster moments which is balanced very well, the guitar solo Sage Savage delivers near to the middle of the track is superbly delivered.

“Midnight Desire” has synth undertones at the start, another banger track full of raw energy, with elements of a sleaze with a catchy ear worm chorus.”Vitrium (Una De Cristal)” is an another instrumental acoustic touches accompanied by electric guitar, which leads perfectly into “Rebirth In Sorrow” which has great guitar, drums, bass work go hand in hand with Savages great vocals which is taken up a gear as the song progresses.”Voice In My Head” is one of a few tracks that clock in at over 6 minutes long for me reminds me very much of early 80's Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne. The title track “The Fates Key” has that nostalgic heavy metal sound but has a more raw and edgier twist to it which is moulded together to deliver a another great track. The Bonus track “Cry Out” originally released as a demo in 2020 is another nostalgic trip back to 80's with great guitar solos and a catchy chorus to end the album in style.

The Fates Key” is a very well made nostalgic 80's heavy metal record. Sage Savage is a very talented guy responsible for all the vocals and instruments and production. Full of great influences and inspiration from legendary bands from the 80's. A very solid release from start to finish which comes highly recommended as a must listen fans of 80's heavy metal will love this album!
