Hailing from Portugal comes BLACK PIG MEAT. Unfortunately, that was the only information I could find about the band, and they don't have a Facebook page, or any entry in The Metal Archives. Let's dive into the album and see what the five tracks are about. "Introphilia" is first. It enters with tension from background ambiance and some eerie lead guitar notes. Slowly, more sonority is added, including drums, and finally its form starts to show from behind the shadows. It's a mysterious sound that reminds me of sandstorms in East, and how they can wipe away your memory. "Sizo" opens with dancing bass notes and a groove, and fuzzy guitars come to play as well, creating a psychedelic landscape for you to enjoy. The band has some chops, and they show them with a bit of a free style approach to the song.

"Veggie" is the longest song on the album, at just under 11 minutes. The lead guitar charts the path early on in the song, complete with bass, drums, and piano in two. It's quite amazing how well the instruments work with one another and play off of one another…it's like a well-oiled machine completing a routine task. "Sobole" has some dissonant tones, in contrast with the free flowing nature of some of the previous songs. You can still follow the groove they lay out for you however, and eventually, the dissonance fades, in favor of smooth melody lines. "Savana" closes the album, and it's another length "jam," where the band can explore. Animated bass notes hold down the bottom while leads spark and glitter over top, and if you head is not moving along, you may want to check your pulse.

Overall, this was just a fun album to listen to. It undulates with a free flowing rhythm and the band is never out of step. Indeed, they play like seasons veterans, and although it does explore the landscape well, it is never too far off the path. For me, it's the kind of album you can just put on and let it ride.
