BIRD’S VIEW, a young German band, with members in their early twenties, brings back the sounds and style of the nineties alternative and grunge rock, adding in pop rhythms, to create a fresh sound that is a combination of alternative, grunge, and pop rock. They also mix influences from Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age as well as others. “House Of Commando”, is the band’s second release. The rhythms on here are solid and poppy. The vocals, while nothing outstanding, are adequate and work well for the songs. The drums are upbeat and lively. It all adds up to music that is high energy.

“House of Commando” features eleven short and quick, alt pop rock tracks ranging from two and half to three and a half minutes. The exception is the last one, which is the longest, coming in at four minutes. The first track, “Vienna,” starts with vocals over fairly clean guitars, with just a little distortion, jumping right into the song. Then it picks up with distorted grungier guitars. Switching back and forth between the two styles keeps the song interesting. This is very reminiscent of the Foo Fighters. From there it goes into “Stay Down,” a simple but fast upbeat tune. The guitars carry what seems to be a simple rhythm riff, while the drums provide a more complex beat. The message of the song is simple enough, “Stay Down,” walk away. “Circus” is the forth track, and has a good rock rhythm to it, with heavy guitars. It slows down with clean guitars just before the solo, which is back to being heavy. “More To Come” is another heavy song, filled with fast frenzied guitars. This song has a very punk feel to it, while the vocals belt out the main line. The first single and video released from “House Of Commando” is “Come Back Home.” This is a lively fast paced song filled with driving drums, rocking guitars, and  big vocals on the chorus. Definitely a good song to release as a single. It's not all fast guitars with high energy rhythms. There are a few laid back mellow songs as well.

The music on “House Of Commando” is upbeat, lively and full of high energy. While I’m not one to enjoy a lot of music from the nineties, or music that sounds like it came from that era, I did find myself toe tapping and head bobbing while listening to the album. That means that “House Of Commando” is better than most of the trash from that time. BIRD’S VIEW has taken all that is good from the nineties and their influences, and added their own sound to create something fresh, unique and energetic.
